For reasons I couldn't tell you most numerologists use the Pythagorean chart:

S T U V W X Y Z

Let's say your intials are R H S. Using the chart

R = 9 H = 8 S= 1

So a pick 3 for you using your intials would be 981.

That's all there is to it.
