Starvos tends to reflect what other Floridians say to me. Obviously, this is not scientific but I bought tickets also and this did not detract from my regular play. In fact, because it is the holiday season many people have told me they hardley every play but bought several tickets for this one.

Let me also inform you that with the advent of clever scratch-off marketing techniques the scratch-off games and quick pick process has become a gold mine for Florida. This type of play has attrac... [ More ]

The FL website says they were sold out at 10:33. I was at Albertson's and they were sold out earlier, unless they just didn't have the terminal producing them. Hmm. I'm sure I was there before 10. As I wrote on another thread late last night, I had finally given into the hype and withdrawn money from the ATM. I'm very surprised they sold out so quickly. I figured I'd be able to purchase a ticket through the end of the week. Oh, well. I'm not too upset. I can always blow $20 on some scratch... [ More ]

stavros...granted you have had increased spending. The critical issue from the state's standpoint is profit, i.e. what is directed to the education fund. How much did you cutback and what percentage/amount of that would have gone to the state? Does the amount of profit realized from your $100 in raffle sales offset that amount? Does the state come out ahead or behind? (note: stavors, I am not asking for your spending pattern, just asking more of a generalized question.)

The only way to... [ More ]

CA Lottery Guy.....I've purchased 5 Raffle tickets. I have cut back a bit on my daily lottery plays, but, even by cutting back, I have spent more with the raffle and pick 3/4 combined then I would have spent on just the pick 3/4. Based on my experience, there has been increased spending, not a cut back.

floridian...while all you state above is true, there is another factor that should be considered; how does the sale of raffle tickets effect other games? One would think there has to be some fall off in sales from the ongoing games.

Before moving forward with more of these games it would be prudent to understand the enitre picture from both a reveune and profit perspective. The raffle program returns less then 50% to the state (which it does) and other programs return at least 50%. If the

With an apparent rush at the end to buy tickets the Florida Holiday Millionaire Raffle is officially sold out. Yesterday morning an estimated 130,000 tickets remained but by this morning the entire allocated amount of 1,250,000 raffle tickets were sold out. This raises some $25 million dollars of which $13 million will be awarded January 1. 2007 to 130 lucky winners in the 3 different prize catagories.

The initial thinking was that the tickets would be sold until the cut-off date of midnig... [ More ]
