In Delaware the lottery tickets are stamped with the word PROCESSED when a ticket is checked in a machine. Also, the machine prints a slip which they must staple to the ticket and keep for their records. Also, the self-checkers display the amount of a winner and have little monitors pointed towards the customer so they can see what the machine does (including how much balance a customer has). It seems if the clerks make a honest mistake, the store is money ahead and if the clerk lies than the clerk can make some extra money and if the loser doesn't complain every body is happy.

In Ohio, when ever I've had a winning ticket a receipt was printed out with instructions for the clerk to pay me a certain amount. Usually clerks allow me to check the receipt to assure me they are paying me the proper amount, but I usually check and mark my tickets before I take them in to be cashed so I... [ More ]
