I hadn't thought about that actually. It would probably only work in the larger states. Delaware and Maryland are having difficulties selling all of their raffle tickets. Pennsylvania also had some problems with it this year because 3 of the bordering states offered raffles. I am unaware of the status of New Jersey's. For the smaller states it might have to be a multi-state raffle. For example, I could see a Northeast Corridor raffle encompassing the small states of RI, CT, DE, and DC, all of... [ More ]

rdc137...the raffle idea you suggested sounds good. One issue that needs to be considered is how much play would this game take away from existing games? If the existing games have a better return to the state, why would the state promote a game that generated less reveune for the lottery

By golly I think its a win-der-Ful idea! Have you suggested this to your state lottery?

Even once every two weeks would still pull in a healthy guaranteed sum. Its a win win for both sides.

The price and odds are definitely worthy of playing.

For your consideration:

Every Sunday, have a ball drawn raffle. Only 50,000 tickets will be sold (from 49,999 to 0) and drawn by 5 side-by-side ball machines, the leftmost containing 0-4 and the others containing 0-9. The ticket cost is $5 each, and numbers are assigned consecutively.

The top prize is $100,000. There are 4 second prizes of $10,000, and 10 third prizes of $1,000. All prizes are paid lump-sum. The payout would be 60% ($150,000 per drawing), and would require 15 drawings to
