Atheists, and I am one, tend to be rationalists.

Rationalists would tend not to play the lottery, although I play the lottery.

Atheists, in spite of what George H.W. Bush might wish to represent, are actually human beings, (and actually have ethics) and in spite of their best intentions, still do irrational things, like play the lottery.

I play the lottery mostly because the improbability of winning the lottery is not quite as improbable as things which already exist. Some might say the dog would need a soc sec #, but many foreigners win. As long as the dog had the proper papers, I suppose he would qualify. How about intergalactic travelers? Do you think someone from another galaxy would be questioned?

One of the things I've noticed is how many people who win have moles.

Agnostic here. If you are becoming a skeptic because of your dream, then you need to expand your worldview and explore some of the different hypotheses in relation to dreams and the subconscious. Having nothing to do with dreams, you should study David Bohm's theories on the explicate/implicate order. Quantum physical models of reality are infinitely interesting(no pun intended

I would think that, since most people affiliate themselves with one religion or another, then most jackpot winners would profess one religion or another.

I would guess that the percentage of jackpot winners who are atheists, agnostics, Buddhists or Jehovah's Witnesses matches fairly well with the percentage of players who are atheists, agnostics or Buddhists or Jehovah's Witnesses. Most people have some kind of religion, so most jackpot winners having some religion is what I'd expect. Jehovah's Witnesses aren't supposed to gamble, so oyu shouldn't see many of them winning jackpots, but if 1/10th of 1% of tickets are bought by Jehovah's Witnesse... [ More ]
