hillbilly

assume your number is in a1 now format b1 to be # of character you want in this case 8

in cell b1 enter this formula =int(sqrt(a1)*1000000)

you should have a 8 digit number no decimal

in cell c1 =left(b1,3)

in cell d1 =right(b1,3)

c1 and d1 have you numbers

some of these steps could be combined but this way you can see the steps

If 4567 is in cell A1 enter

=SQRT(A1) in cell A2 or whatever cell you want it in.

And if 4567 is in a different cell replace (A1) with that cell number.
