That's a relative question, I would be happy with about 10 million after taxes. Any more than that and it attracts to much media attention. Whenever anyone wins a mega jackpot that is when all of the vultures come out and if you are not careful it can be more of a curse than a blessing. New Orleans Saints in 08.

For me it's almost impossible to say in one sentence. One never knows what will happen in the future, including a change in attitude/lifestyle. I don't spend much now and didn't when I made a good living. I just had a heck of lot more choices. $100,000 a year would be more than enough, especially if we are talking about after tax dollars. If I got it all at once, I'd probably ask for $2 million, buy a home and put the rest away. I'd help out friends and be charitable of course.

This questi... [ More ]

Besides, on the base jackpot, taking the cash means you give up $6,700,000

On a big jackpot where there is enough to put it away and live off the interest, then I'd take the cash... [ More ]

My ideal amount, after taxes would be $15,685,000

The first $12 million would be divided in 12 groups of stocks that insure approximately 4% to 6% annual pay out (roughly around $600,000 a year).

Approximately $1.5 million will be divided amongst 10 or so various charities.

It will take about $200,000 to clear up and settle all my current debt.

A prior post I noted earlier how I would make use of the remaining funds.

For me, a $15 million lottery would suffice, after taxes, approximately $3-4 million. Quite frankly, I could live off the interest -- and never touching the principal. As one becomes older, a person has a tendency to 'downsize' by getting rid of the clutter and not competing with the neighbors next door.
