That would be true if the sales were not affected, but they are. While it may be a little bit cheaper to run the drawings on a computer, the drop in sales (as previously documented in states like Missouri) over-compensates for any savings, which results in a net loss vs. traditional ball drawings. Thus, it is a myth that computerized drawings are cheaper .

No that won't happen. Using a computer and RNG program is much cheaper for them, plus they don't have to pay to televise the drawings. That gives them more profit, and making money is why the games exist. If anything, we will see more states go to RNG. It would take a massive protest of the players, and hitting the lotteries in the pocketbook before they would even consider reverting back.

I think that's a great question.

I have been saying for years now that some state is going to suddenly realize that turning back to real lottery drawings is going to be a major event that brings in a surge of new revenue. You'd think with all the lotteries hurting right now -- and even thinking of doing the unthinkable and SELLING the lottery -- that they would kick this idea around. Instead of selling the lottery, how about doing something for the players that will pay them back with extra... [ More ]

Nope, not unless it's financially feasable, and that would take a few thousand people saying 'switch back and we will start playing again'.
