The lottery makes it hard for you or I to win? That's not new. It has always been hard t owin the lottery. Lotteries are not in business to lose money. If people could crack it that easily, the lotteries would discontinue the games. They are in the business to make money. Lotteries were never created in order to make it easy for people to get rich. That is not their purpose.

Hi UNITEDWESTAND.... I agree with you because, for the amount of money I'm loosing and considering the fact that I can go 2 to 3 years playing everyday and not win a thing well, maybe forty dollars it seems to be in my best interest to boycot. I'm already excited about the amount of money I will save. The only thing is though, I believe we would have to go state by state and a lot longer than a week. Let me know when you get around to Delaware because, I'm in. THANKS

tntea

Good point.

Todd- see, that's the type of thing I'm talking about. You think a strike or boycott would work against that kind of thinking? As I've said before, we, the players, get in our own way on this type of thing.

Sports fans always swear that that's it for me when a pro sport goes on strike. Amazing how when the strike ends the stadiums fill right back up, considering all the people who swore to never buy a ticket again.

If strikes or boycotts worked, and if we the lot... [ More ]

Thank you for pointing out a terrific example of how we differ.

The fact is that since Lottery Post raised public awareness of the issue of fake computerized drawings not one single state has converted from real drawings to computers. The only game I am aware of that converted is Hot Lotto, and it was handled quietly in the dark of night .

This is despite the fact that computerized drawings had been gaining momentum for years, and without the awareness generated by Lottery Post, we would... [ More ]

Todd

You see it as negativity, I see it as just an observation.

You've had your petition going for quite a while and have many signatures. Has any compuiterized lottery reverted to a ball drawing since it's been going?

The lotteries work on the attitude of if you offer it they will play and indeed people do.

Generally speaking, I am not given to such negativity. My positive mental outlook has helped me a great deal in life. I completely disagree with you, except for the part where you say that you would like to see it happen. I think it could succeed beyond either of your expectations, all it needs is someone with some positive energy, some time, and a good deal of effort.

Todd

Of all the lotteies mentoned by people who post here, what percentage of people who play those lotteries do we have represented? Granted everybody knows 20 people, but still.

Every single person on this board could boycott every lottery for a specified number of draws and they probably wouldn't even feel it.

Like I said, as long as there are people who will play no matter what, a boycott is just a nice thought at best.

There was a thread awhile back about how big would a mat... [ More ]

Sadly I don't think a state run game is going to get that message. A lottery that was just switched to private hands would be very sensitive to such a boycott. Especially a pick 3/4 boycott. A private firm would quickly realize that it's in their best intrest to make sure the games appear to be as random as possible and have recorded ball drawings for all their games.

That's the spirit!

If you're going to organize something like that, the trick is to make sure that people know about it ahead of time, including the state lottery. So when there is a dip in sales it can be directly attributed to the boycott.

It's too bad that some states went to computerized drawings, and it's too bad that it seems to require a player revolt in order to coerce them to switch back to traditional drawings.

I would personally support a targeted boycott that would demonstr... [ More ]
