Because that person 'wants it all', but doesn't want to do anything associated with the game, is scared of having to deal with the headaches that CAN come with winning, and wants to do nothing to help promote it, that's the feeling I got.

If I won a jackpot, it's recorded all over the place what I would do as far as doing things to keep a little privacy, but I just don't think it's right to play the game, win, and then slip out the back door because a person doesn't want to 'deal with it'.... [ More ]

I would like to see more money going to the lower tier prizes. For example, I got 4 out of 6 in FL Lotto after many years of playing and won $75. Big Deal! Even $500 would be much nicer. I agree with 1), I totally disagree with 2).

How do we know if the person that 'won' is not somehow connected to the lottery ?

Everyone should know the rules by now, and if the 1 in 146 million chance hits that you or I will be 'paraded' around, then so be it, it comes with the territory, deal with it. NY Blotto is the game that most needs a change (higher, of course) in the OVERALL payout percentage. The upcoming NY Blotto Extra will not be an improvement-trust me. Not one cent of the second dollar will go into the jackpot pool.

Pick 3 STR paying $1,000?! You realize that's a 100% payout, the Lottery would go bankrupt doing that. As for 25K for 4 out of 5 sans the Powerball, that's a 175% payout for that division alone, not even counting the other 8 prize categories. I see what you're saying, higher payouts would be nice, but payouts that high are just not realistic.

The only thing that could be done is the $800 4/5 payout. A 5/39 could support that without much problem.

Powerball:

I'd change the $7 payouts to $10, the $4 to $7, and the $3 to $4.

I'd also change the jackpot so if you win you can get half in cash, and half in the annuity. I know you could take all cash and do your own annuity, but there are different tax ramifications in doing that.

I would change 2 things about powerball/mega...

1. Withhold taxes that are actually due, not a lesser amount and then force the winners to pay estimated taxes on the balance due. Interest is not the issue, this is one trap that burns many winners.

2. Allow winners to remain anonymous. OR at least ban the media from the information for 1 year after the win to allow the winners time to move and erase their tracks... The ONLY people that need to know who won are the winner, the lottery organi... [ More ]

If on line sites had to televise their own drawings and have them audited by the state or some independent source, they couldn't afford $900 payouts for pick3.

Since the question Emphasized the term YOU , I shall take it to mean Ones own PERSONAL opinion or Idea and NOT that of some nah sayers. It doesnt have to be consistent at ALL with the current payouts, and that is what I like to see. Different Ideas!

That's a nice thought but those are true odds and no entity that is in business to take bets stays in business by offering true odds.

The only true odds available are on pass line (and Don't Pass) on casino crap tables, but you have to have the line bet to make the odds bet.

Why change the payouts?

Lotteries started about 20 or 30 years ago with the same payouts as they have today in the pick 3 and 4.

What did one dollar buy back then?

What was a weekly income back then?

What did 500.00 buy 30 years ago.

If you have an increase in weekly income with any job compared to 30 years ago Play $2.00 on a number to get back $1,000.00
