Yup, that's her, The Numbers Lady - she's been on Coast to Coast a few times.

One night someone even called in and said they had an 8 in their wallet and it wasn't working.

She said they were using it wrong somehow

hey ....this goes with my blog on luck vs. bad luck ...but anyfactor that changes or leaves you feeling negative can be bad luck ...but thats not superstitues .....IN the bible the english word religion stands for the greek interpitation of

I consider the tounge to be a powerful thing so if i or someone around me says something bad i always knock on wood.

Example:

If Im in a car and a speeding car takes me/us over and the passenger says aloud Watch them kill dey self today there is a chance I pull over and find a piece a wood to knock on twice.

I have a 2x1 poster of the number 8 taped on the inside of my bedroom door.

It's supposedly a sign of power and wealth.

So far, in my case....I need a much larger size, like a billboard outside my house so the money Gods might see it.....LOL

As for the Black Cat thing, I held that belief for years, until my daughter brought home a giant black cat.

He constantly crosses my path.

I am superstitious. If someone is going out the door as I'm going into the store, if they are standing in my way. I feel that it's negative and I don't want to go in the store. Or if they walk across in front of me, or if they are standing beside or behind me I feel uncomfortable.

Funny that Jarasan and The GameGrl both had several superstitions I never thought of until I read their posts.

Jarasan, I'm am afraid to skip a drawing, since I feel my numbers might hit. Even 5/6 in Lotto averages more than $5,000. I know the chances are slim that on that one night my numbers, after all these years, will suddenly be drawn, but I always make sure I buy tickets on Wed Sat, even if I skip other games that week to save money. Is believing that if you don't play your tickets, they will fall, superstitious? If so then I am superstitous, as far as the ladders, mirrors, voodoo dolls, black cats, I always tempt fate to see if it is true. I will walk under ladders, etc. to see if the theories hold water with immediate effects, and they don't seem to. But if I don't play that number, sure enough it'll fall!

yes. I consider my ticket a loser if the clerk says GOOD LUCK! Somehow I think it jinxs the ticket. Everytime I leave and they dont wish me luck, I win! So I get out fast before they wish me well.

Other superstitions are: Picking up a penny, No matter heads or tail. I pick it up because its one more penny then I had when I started the day! I just make sure I aint pickin it up in the middle of a busy street! Somehow that would be bad luck! *grin*

Funny you should mention that! I once put my pocketbook on the floor and a friend grabbed it and told me never to do that again, since it means I will have financial woes. So that's it! I should begin making lots of money soon.

I'm not sure. I won't buy a QP if someone cuts in front of me. I wonder if tripping the person and putting a curse on him/her with the evil eye is considered to be a superstition. LOL

if the clerk is rude i wont play there again but i dont think of that as superstitious. i only play one set of numbers i picked the rest came from somewhere else or a quick pick because i have been wrong for so many years with my own picks that i just settled on one set for me and the rest from almost anywhere else.

Not really. I don't make it a habit of playing the same numbers more than once (fortune cookie numbers or numbers off the top of my head). Also, if I get a bad feeling about the clerk, i'll play somewhere else.

Forgot to add.. Next time I go to a casino and hit the slots I will have my underwear on inside out.

When I got home and discovered that they were inside out the last time I went and played slots , I said what the heck... I'll try it again... After all, I hit for $6000.00 . who knows? couldn't hurt...

I think most people are, at least somewhat, but at a place like LP where picking numbers is involved, more people will admit to it.

Where supersitions really abound are in gambling and sports.

I saw casino bosses do somethings you wouldn't believe, and in casinos, almost everyone is superstitious.

Sport magazine one time did an article on Voodoo Football . It mentioned if a team won last Sunday, the following Sunday at breakfast everyone had to sit next to the same person, order... [ More ]

Double Down,you are hilarious! I only use quarters to scratch tickets with too.

I'm superstitious somewhat. You won't catch me walking under a ladder but when it comes to buying tickets and such, I never buy them at a certain time or place or anything.

I used to say no, but now I find myself using only the new quarters to scratch instant tickets. In my mind I feel it brings me good luck........

If no new quarter is available, a dime will do.

I Never use pennies or nickels.

I guess this qualifies as superstitious....
