I was going to write that, but I figured someone else would catch it. I knew TN was similar to NH in the way they tax interest dividends. Although I haven't lived there in years, the property taxes are very high. 20 years ago I had a singlewide and my taxes were over $1,000. You could be in for a very unpleasant surprise if you did that.

Tennessee and New Hamshire are both well known for not having a state income tax despite the fact that both have a state income tax. The tax rates are 6 and 5% respectively, but it's limited to interest and dividend income. I don't know about anyone else, but if I was retired I'd expect a lot of my income to come from interest and dividends, so Tennessee and New Hampshire could be poor choices.

I have a vision in my mind of the place I'd like us to live, but the problem is I'm not sure where it is, I only know what it would look like. Might be somewhere in PA. Anyplace but here where the population seems to double every other day. It took me 1/2 hour to travel 2 miles today. One thing is you don't necessarily have to win Lotto to live where you really want.

I would continue to maintain my present house and perhaps another one in a more upscale area of Chicago (would have to do that to have a suitable place to park my luxury cars...luxury cars in my current neighborhood are Mercedes, Volvos, and Lexus...my type of luxury cars are Maseratis and Bentleys). I'd stay right where I am, and I would travel south to a warm weather city in January-February, a different place every year. I would not own any homes outside of my main residence where I am now.

I'd like to live in a modest house in new england, hopefully cape cod. I wouldn't want to live in a huge house. I'd rather not let people know I had a lot of money. I think that those people who win the lottery and buy huge extravagant houses are stupid.

I don't know exactly, but I'd have a summer home in the hills of one of the mountain states like Montana, Idaho, Utah where it never gets over 85 degrees. And I'd have a winter home somewhere warmer like southern California or Arizona.

the tax situation here in tennessee would be great for a big winner but if people found out where i lived and asked me for money i may buy a house somewhere else to and lay low for a while. i dont care about the weather i just want a city where i can relax.

I would probably move to Indianapolis or close to it because (Indiana) jackpot winners have to claim their jackpot at Hoosier Lottery headquarters, which is in Indianapolis, and if I'm gonna be winning the Pick 6 jackpot a bunch of times it won't take me that long to do get my money.
