I have read books based on positive thinking and the LOA for many years before the secret was introduced. It simply affirms the others. It does not matter if all the authors won the lottery or not by applying the secret, what matters is that all of them are very successful and rich. Not necessarily from a lottery win, but successful nonetheless.

Actually, Sammy Davis Jr was Cuban. His father was an African-American. He converted to Judaism after losing his eye in an automobile accident. I think he was very talented. Imagine what kind of a dancer he would have been had he not lost his eye. Still, he went on to be a very popular singer and actor. Too bad he smoked and died of throat cancer. Collier's book is titled The secret of the Ages (sound familiar? except you see, his is circa 1926 or so).

Read Robert Collier. He says the people that do infact manifest their desires do so because of desire, but not I'd like to have this or that desire , but desire the way a drowning person would desire oxygen.

Collier is one of but many authors that were way, way before The Secret.

Attraction is a matter of personal perception. You attract what you believe you will ultimately attract. Not necessarily opposites. If someone said something profane to you and punched you in the face, I doubt you would compliment them and hug them afterwards. Like would attract like, and there would probably be a fight.

Also the secret relies more on mystical aspects, which will not work for those firmly grounded in logic and science, because they are far too close-minded.

I've just learned recently that The Secret is unfair to the laws of physics. Opposites attract. You have the polarized points. Northern and southern hemispheres. All opposing!

Since most of the universe is made of an unknown matter called Dark Matter', scientists can only speculate whether the vacuum in space acts as the negative.....abscence of pressure. 15 psi being forced out of the body.

I have a lot of books and DVDs on the law of attraction, and they have seemed to help. I got both the DVD and the book, although I found the DVD to be overpriced. I think What the bleep do we know?! is a better deal and a lot longer and more in depth. I also enjoyed The intention experiment: using your thought to change your life and world It is actually scientifically proven material. I have about 20 books on the subject, and most seem to teach the same concepts with sleight variations.

That's exactly what it's about. I've seen some of those guys backtracking on the Larry King show. On the DVD, it's claimed that if you cause everything to happen to you, even accidents. So, someone called in and asked about 9/11. Was everyone that died at fault? Then the back-tracking started with some things in the universe are meant to happen or some nonsense like that.

One guy even charges hundreds of dollars to teach the Law of Attraction. Snake oil is alive and well.... [ More ]

Before any action takes place, a thought must come first.

If bad thoughts prevail, then we..... as a people must learn how to monitor thoughts on a regular basis.

I wonder if that's an excuse not just an explanation to justify why it doesn't work. Although it certainly makes a lot of sense. Once I developed a relationship with a very kind, gentle spiritual teacher (long story) I contacted for healing. In his book Cosmic Ordering, author Jonathan Cainer explains why you can't use something like the Secret to hit the lottery.

Basically, when you call on the cosmos for something like that, you're really calling on your guardian angel- and millions of other people are calling on theirs, all with the same request. So all those guardian angels, not to be working against each other, simply stay out of it.

I believe in this so deeply more than facelifts, and putting fruit extracts on your body and spas, (i mean is ok the massage), but getting those stuff everyday like manicure every week, is just wasting too much energy...

First belief...I believe the Secret is a big scam....

The whole concept is really nothing new.

When it comes to hitting a jackpot, even for those using the secret (or attempting to), it's still luck.

I think that's a pretty good question given the undeniable popularity of The Secret and how it speaks directly to the heart's desires of the human being -- and obviously one of the most perennially popular of the heart's desires is the wish to win the lottery (or at least to be wealthy by some means or another).

As for myself I have not used the principles of The Secret with respect to winning a jackpot -- but perhaps there are others here on LP who are trying it that... [ More ]

I watched the new Miss Usa Rachel Renee Smith say on the Oprah Winfrey show that she prayed and she also read The Secret before she won her crown. Does anyone here use that book or dvd to help them think positive to try to win the lottery? ive really been interested in all of her interviews because she went to the same high school as i did so i know she talks about her faith in God so for her to also mention the Secret i wondered if anyone on LP was using that to try to win a jackpot.
