At sunrise the sun, in whatever sign it is in, is rising. Right now it is in tarus. Above the horizon at sunrise the preceeding sign will appear to be above it when you cast a chart. In this case on May 11th it is Aries. On June 11th the sun will be in Gemini and the preceeding sign will be Taurus at sunrise. This is very general information.
