If a quarter bet paid more than $125, the dollar players would get quarter tickets multiple times so I don't think the state lotterys would be paying more. Before the states got into the pick-3s, there was a numbers game that paid $600 for a dollar straight and people could bet trying to win 60 bucks.

I couldn't answer. The way the state operates, if they did offer 25 cent bets, they would also probably cut the pay-off odds in half. If they did, the 25 cent bet would be no better than now at 50 cents.

A 25 cent bet would benefit the players because they could make more bets with the same amount of money and it wouldn't hurt the lottery commissions because the payoffs would be lower. Some states may have done the research and the anti-lottery people might be the reason they haven't offered it.

I seldom make a 50 cent so a 25 cent bet would have no impact on me.

I see it as a win win situation for the players and the game itself. There would be alot

more plays being made but filling out playslips should be a rule if you exceede a certain

amout of picks. Another perk I enjoy is when Illinois decides to throw us a bone and run

their double draw for a month. After the initial drawing there is a drawing with green and

white balls and if a green ball shows then they do a 2nd pick 3 drawing for the same tickets

you purchased for the 1st.

with much of what you say.

Presently, most lottery retailers get 5% of ticket sales for their services which is about 5 per line when customer pay $1 per line, what would it be if the price was 25 per line?

The cost of paper and the time involved might make more retailers avoid selling online lottery tickets at all. Right now in my town, which is not very large, 10% of the lottery retailers don't sell online tickets because they don't have a person available full time to punch in numb... [ More ]

YEP! I sure would. This would give me the opportunity to do different systems at the same time and play a lot more numbers. I would do it in a heart beat. I think the odds of $125 for .25 is a great enough incentive for everyone.

Whatever Baby wants...Baby gets

Quarter bets sound good at first glance but i think it would be a retailers nightmare. Imagine that person in front of you that used to play 20 dollars worth of numbers tyeing up the line for 5/10 minutes. Now they can place 4 times the bets they used too.

Retailers would have to keep 500 or more dollars worth of quarters on hand to make change.

The top payout here for a $1 Exact Order bet on Pick 3 is $500. So I guess the question would be would I spend .25 to try to win $125, and the answer is probably not.
