I buy PB all the time and give them away before the draw.. Hopefully one day a ticket I buy will make someone rich..

I've had requests like that when people know I'm going to Vegas.

There is no problem when they hand me an amount of money and ask me to wager it on a specific football game, car race, or even Keno numbers, but when they say bet it on anything or don't give me the money upfront, I won't do it.

Thanks for all the diverse views. Still waiting to hear more. I agree that with the ban on online wagering, people who have builty up some level of trust over time (as in regular LP memebrs) are good candidates to deal with honorably.

I have had some experiences recently --mostly positive. When I posted a few numbers with confidence some went out and made a akill. They offered to a donation with me and I accepted.

When I lived in Vegas people from out of state would call up and ask me to bet football games for them, not shy either -

Could you puy $220 on the Chargers for me? Sometimes they'd even say $550.

Las Vegans see through that kind of thing right away, if it wins they show up and want the money, if it loses, good luck. I never did make one of those bets for anybody.

I've had people offer to give me $10 or $20 and ask me to put it on a certain number on the roulette wheel or drop it in a slot machine when I'm in Vegas and I typically decline and tell them I can't keep up with their money. I tell them I'll play my money and if I hit I'll let them know...

I could write a book on this subject, and maybe someday I will (LOL), there are pros and cons for doing this and overall I would say that it is a great idea. The most important thing as well with many other things in life is KNOW the person you are dealing with.

I have been posting numbers for many years, here at the LotteryPost, and even before this site was around, at another site called Maybell's, so I think I know what I'm talking about.

Once when Ohio Rolling Cash5 had a jackpot over $500K, I posted that I was going all out and buying $50 worth of tickets. I got a PM from another members saying he had a sister in Ohio who usually played his numbers but he couldn't get in touch with her but he would surely like to play.

I PM him back that if he sent me his numbers up to 10 lines I would play them at my expense and share the profit with him. He PM me that he usually sent 180 lines and he expected to be paid regardless. Th... [ More ]

I never thought of myself as cheap or greedy, but I don't want to buy lottery tickets for anyone because of the potential problems that might arise. I suppose if I had children or was very close with a friend or family member, I might do it. However, I am a little funny, maybe even superstitious, about gambling.

I've played Powerball and Mega Millions for the clerk running the ticket. After a certain amount I figure that kind of money is 'obscene' and better to pray that at least someone else hits along with you rather than 'bogart' hundreds of millions.

I figure that way I've got at least one other person 'rooting' for the same numbers. Would make a great story too, if it ever happens.

Closest I came with this was 4 and 0 in Powerball, paid $110 at the time.

yes,I too have played for someone else many times but when I ask for the favor to be returned I either never get my tickets back or get told that the tickets were lost or worst they just keep my money period ,no explanation at all.

I've had people make bets for me while I was rolling the dice on a crap table and I didn't say please don't do that . And I see nothing wrong with somebody betting a couple of bucks for you on your predictions and giving you the winnings or the tickets.

To answer your question, I have made bets for other people at the race track and would do the same playing the lottery.

Someone used some numbers i predicted for their state and as a goodwill gesture played a couple bucks for me. Not a bad idea methinks.
