tennessees raffle didnt sell out until the final weekend so some people think all the winners will be sold closer to the drawing date in the raffles so they wait but i dont wait because i dont want to risk missing my chance to get a ticket because of a quick sellout...

Wow less than 10,000 left now all the sudden. PA seems to be dead on with the sell out date. Probably because the lottery themselves bought like 300,000. I just don't buy it. I got 2 though, one from the beginning and one today. I guess people all wait until the very last day to buy 90,000 tickets.

In my opinion: Burnout. Look how many states are having them at the same time. Pennsylvania tried to concept and everyone else is jumping on the bandwagon. People are just tired of them.

Just for your info, I bought one of the $50.00 dollar tickets and was 20 tickets away from $100,000. Now you might say one ticket or ten thousand you still did not have a winning ticket. Well you are right unless i have a winner it is still a loser. You tell me one game that the odds are one in 125,000 for 2 million dollars? Yeah, I think about how fast the 1st raffle in Ky sold out and that the ticket was a lot more. Now they have a $5.00 raffle ticket and can't even give them away with promotions. I wonder if they could have sold out if they sold 1,000,000 tickets with 2 one millions top prizes then the current 500,000 tickets and 2 $500,000 top prize.

NY raffle the odds of winning $1 million are 1 of 107,000.

The odds are awesome compared with scratch offs and Pb and MM. Well worth the $20 investment. IMO

Are these raffles even worth it? I'm surrounded by 3 states having them (plus was in NY and VA while theirs were going on) and I didn't buy a single ticket for any of them. $20 is just a bit too much to drop on these things. I do treat myself occasionally to a $20 Win for Life ticket in New York, but that's not often I get there.

I too was rootin for JXP to hit for moola! There are just some folks here that contribute to post and contribute in a positive manner :) JXP is one of them that I wish good karma in winnings!

PA is down to 80k tickets yet, so it will be close to see if they do sell out.

I did notice that with the Njersey raffle out of 500,000 tickets they didnt have any big winners in the 400,000 . So maybe its an omen to buy before the last 100,000 are sold.

They went past the break-even point when they sold the 322,836th ticket and now sold close to 600,000 so the drawing will probably be on the planned time and date. It's weird how some states have no problem selling out quickly and and other states can't give them away.

95,000 tickets left for PA, and only 2 days left. At the current rate I would not believe a so-called sell out. I highly doubt 95,000 tickets are going to sell in this state in less than 2 days, especially at the current rate that I have been seeing them sell, SLOW.

If they buy 20 tickets they're 20 times more likely to win, so their odds are much better than for somebody who has a single ticket. Of course, their individual winnings will only be 1/20th of what an individual would win.

Okay - just checked my FL Raffle ticket. 1486641

Timing is everything. I bought my ticket on July 1 at 3:26

Looking at the winning numbers, one winner in Miami (lots of winners there) bought his ticket about an hour after I did, judging from the amount that was being sold. They sold out at 8:44 and there were 13,359 left when I bought mine. So about 2,500 an hour were being sold that day.

I agree with you, except something is better than nothing. As far as buying 20 tickets goes, it's true the odds remain the same, but if they are buying 20 tickets as a group, each person has 19 more chances, right? Depending on how many people pitched in, a split could still turn out to be a nice prize. 17 co-workers (airplane mechanics in Miami) just claimed a $19 million jackpot in FL. They took the cash and each will get about $600K before taxes.

PA's is set to sell out by Saturday. Some of my co workers bought 20 tickets for this raffle! THey figured as a group they have a better chance. I told them the odds are the same for them as it is for a single holder. They didnt appreciate that remark, yet odds dont change. your chance remains 1 in 125,000 to hit. I personally dont like splitting with such a large amount of holders. Call it greed, I call it taking the high road to riches.

$20 is just too steep for a lottery ticket.

The way the Illinois raffle is set up it comes down to 509 winners out of 500,000 tickets.

Four million dollar winners, 5 $100,000 winners, and 500 $1,000 winners.

So;

500,000 tickets

- 509 winners

= 499,491 losers.

Gee, which side of that equation do you think your $20 will put you on?

That is bad but they have to do this because they haven't even sold enough tickets to cover the prizes they are offering. They need to sell 275000 tickets to cover the prize amounts. My calculations they need to sell around 81000 more ticket to cover the prize pay outs and the way the tickets are selling it should be about 2 months away for the drawing. I was shocked that this raffle did not sell out early, it is still going. Which is actually good, as I believe they draw from only the tickets bought. So far less than 175,000 is left. I also think it is stupid that the odds are the same for the $100,000 prize as the million. There should be about 5 more $100,000 prizes.

That's horrible! I think one of the reasons I just decided to buy one was because if I kept debating the pros and cons in my mind, by the time I actually decided to buy one they would have all been sold out! In the past the raffle tickets have sold quickly in Michigan! Good luck to everyone who has decided to buy one! I wouldn't mind being just one of the 2500 people who will win $500. That would make me incredibly happy

I bought one of the FL tickets on Sunday. After I plunked down $20 I had buyer's remorse but I'm doing my best to focus on the positive. I'll be happy if I win the $10,000 prize. There were only about 14,000 left when I bought it. By 9 they were gone. Maybe that's a good thing since I was thinking of getting another one. Last time I didn't buy a ticket. This time I have even less money. Guess that's a little crazy, but I'll be checking the numbers on Wednesday.

Last week I drove to PA and bought a $20 raffle ticket. There are also five $100,000 winners, 200 $1000 winners and 7567 $100 winners so the overall odds of winning anything are 1 in 80.

Well, I did it. I bought 1 of the raffle tickets. I guess I'll see whether or not it was worth it in about a week. Apparently the Michigan lottery says it will draw the winners a week after the last ticket is sold, so I won't have to wait long to find out. Stay tuned and I'll let you know if I win anything.

it depends on the person if they are comfortable spending that much on one ticket but in georgia the raffle is $20 so i was there to get megamillions and i decided to try the raffle anyway because the odds are posted as better than a larger jackpot game like megamillions so i didnt mind it but if you think its too much then you should follow your heart either direction

I played a $20.00 NY raffale ticket once , when the results came in there was no winner from my county, I never played again. NYC counties seem to be very lucky counties. If I were to play any lotto games again, it would only be in NYC.

With any game of chance the perception will change when the results are known. It's pretty obvious that somebody winning $1000 - $1Million in the last $20 raffle will say it was worth it and some of those people winning nothing will say it was not worth it.

Is it worth spending $20 on one of those raffle lottery games? The reason I ask is because my state, Michigan, is again doing one of those $20 raffle games. I mean should I throw down $20 on one ticket or would it be wiser for me financially to just use the $20 to play other games and/or buy scratch off tickets? It's hard for me to justifiy spending $20 on just one ticket. Any advice out there will be greatly appreciated.
