I'm addicted to statistics. If White Ball 6 and Mega Number 6 occur in California Super Lotto Plus, I must take the statistics of the Mega Millions game that California was in plus the California Super Lotto Plus statistics.

You got it.

I also look to them... not to tell me something is 'due' necessarily (number-wise), but to tell me 'this hasn't happened in awhile, so think about it'. I know that LOOKS like the same thing, but it's not.

WB 18 isn't 'due', but we are 'due' for a number that has not hit in 20+ games, which leaves 52-40-50-12-33-18 to choose from. I have two of those in play for tonight in a few of games.

Now that I have jinxed myself and everyone else playing those...... [ More ]

I use a lot of stats, but they are more like attractors than selectors.

If the stats say something happens often, it becomes an attractor.

If the stats say something happens seldom, it becomes a filter.

That way you're not fixated on some favorite number.

I tend to agree with you, BUT, I seem to be pretty good at seeing what TYPES of numbers are 'due', as opposed to what actual numbers themselves are 'due'. I look at some criteria, and whatever number happens to be sitting in the criteria my stats tell me to look at, I play.

This way, I cannot 'fall in love' with a particular number: I play what fits, no matter what it is, like it or not.

One bad thing about statistics: you can have one statistic that tells you to play a certain 'number',... [ More ]

I don't use statistics to pick actual 'numbers', but I have tons of them that sway what 'type' of Powerball game I will play for each drawing, and about half of what I use is pretty solid, the other half is so-so, or should I say, WAS so-so. I changed some theories I had about 3 drawings ago, and now I'm doing MUCH better.

Statistics can be good to know, but you can take statistics and use them to say what you want them to say.

If you get too hung up on statistics, you start believing a number or several numbers are due . This can be disastrous thinking in games like cards, dice, or roulette, let alone lottery.

Statistically, people who play by statistics lose just as much as everybody else.

Kinda, somewhat, but I would have to say no, I look at the past drawings, but I don't get over analytical if that is what you imply by statistics, I go with more intuition on what I perceive to be occuring in the given game (you know, what feels good or seems right, to me).

I think if you try and go totally by statiscal number crunching your head may explode. Mine has exploded on several occasions and it is hard to put it back together again.

LOL jarasan

No, like RJOH, I do not get hung up on low percentage occurances, but like him I do tend to check under every rock for an edge.....same MB PB does happen on occasion. So does same bonus ball as white ball, same bonus ball in last 2 draws, or all even or all odd white balls.

If I am playing more than a $5 ticket and I dont have a number to play, I'm liable to toss a $1 to cover that occurence,,,,(knowing full well that by me playing it, its just not going to happen).

I responded to that thread, https://www.lotterypost.com/thread/158650.htm

and showed that had only happened three times this year which meant that it was an insignificant occurrence as far as picking PB numbers.

I look at statistics of past drawings and only pay attention to them if they reveal significant trends. I think if I found certain conditions or trends that showed up or existed a good percent of the time, it would be foolish to ignore them.

Even lotteries check their own stat... [ More ]

Are you ADDICTED to Statistics?

Because of comments like this one:

Here's a little coincidence for you-

The most recent draws of these 2 games had the same mega ball / power ball number - 35

How did you do on the draw ?

I was wondering if anyone feels they are too dependent on stats or silly coincidences like this
