IF I ever won a jackpot, I'd probably buy the clerk that sold me the ticket a car or something, but then again, what if you buy them a car, they get in a crash, and someone gets killed ?. It can come back to you.

I hear the same thing from time to time from store clerks remember half of this is mine if you win . But funny thing is they never offer to pay half of the cost of the tickets.. LOL

Regarding the polls: yes, some of us have come to the realization that we might never win and those of us that are lucky enough to have close relatives might just be blessed with something from their win if they are so lucky. In my book that is not being greedy or wishful thinking, just a reality.

I think polls like this are popping up all over the LP forum because members are realizing that they aren't likely to win a jackpot and their best chance of getting their hands on even a potion of a lottery jackpot is for someone else to give it to them but things don't work that way, even friends or relatives who win a lottery jackpot aren't likely to share it with them and wishing it was so is not going to change it.

Another vote for ME...also my favorite charity. I watched Extreme Makeover: Home Edition tonight and was reminded how many people are so much less fortunate than me, BUT...the money would be at my discretion at all times. If I'm the dumb schmuck who is pissing away cash from his paycheck year after year chasing a dream that, in all likelihood, won't happen, you can be damn sure I'm keeping it if it does happen.

The poll as written is rather, well . . . strange to put it politely.

With a decent size jackpot, I would probably give more to others or to charities than just about anyone here. But like most others, I chose myself because in so doing I could apportion my gift to various people in relation to the amount I felt they needed to bring their standard of living up to a reasonable level. I could also control the timing of gifts for those who would be unlikely to manage their money well. In

I agree. Whether it's lottery, real estate, casino play, or stocks; the person who risks his money deserves any such reward that comes out of it. Everyone else is acting like those characters in The Little Red Hen . It makes me nervous when people sit around and want to decide who needs my money, property or anything else more than I do (especially if they can vote). Too many people who need it more never can bring themselves to work as hard .

Well you see I came to lottery post to see how other winners are handling their win. However as I looked over the pages I saw all these posts over and over again regarding people talking about how they would help out charity or others if they won putting so much focus on it in some cases..

So I decieded to hang here off and on when I wasn't busy for people like yourself who would just like to focus on winning then keep to themselves how they would help out the world if they have or did win.... [ More ]

I come to LP to read and be a part of discussions about what other lottery players are doing to win and lately many of the discussions have been about who deserve to win a lottery jackpot or the moral obligations of an undeserving winner to give his lottery winnings away to the needy or those more deserving than himself.

I simply don't understand the drive you have to make people feel bad about giving to whomever they want. No one is trying to change the world, as you state over and over and over again.

No one expects to save the world. You can post here a million times until your fingers become raw, and I'll bet you a million bucks that you'll never ever change anyone's mind if they are set in helping a neighbor or friend or local food bank.
