Another thing that just occured to me-

The last time we had a thread like this one that tangented off on religion it went on for days and we lost Chewie.

Chewie was a very sharp witted individual and his opinions were spot on and peppered with humor. Lots of us long timers miss him and hope he is well.

I don't know if it was a coincidence or he just got sick of it, but Emily is correct . Bible verses belong on other message boards and that's all there is to it.

I have yet to read anything that makes me believe gambling is a sin. I have prayed for large sums of money when I needed it-and received it, even though the odds of that happening were 1000000 to 1. I have prayed for jobs and for my husband a job- and recieved it, even though they were out of our league, but we were/are successful(sp?). I am a firm believer in prayer. Maybe we first need to define the word prayer since some of us think it's asking for something. I've been told prayer is listening. Some believe we should pray for each other and world peace. Others believe the process of praying is praising the Lord for everything He has already done for us and all He has created.

I don't subscribe to organized religion, but Iam spiritual. I believe we are made of energy, and that it can't be destroyed, rather changed into another form.

Yes I pray to win a lottery prize, and thankful when I do win. Even though it hasn't been the jackpot yet. I have bills to pay, so any little bit helps.

I feel that praying to get money to survive is important, the same as praying for health for yourself or others, answers to decisions that you have, etc...

I checked yes, although it's not really prayer as much as pleading. I just lost a family member last week, so begging isn't the same as when you pray for someone. I buy my tickets and then say please, please..just a small win (with a smile on my face) but I don't seriously think money is something people should pray over unless you're homeless or hungry.
