The scratchers on Brasil had cars on the cards, but the prize was in cash ... The winner of a bigger prize would need to get the money in the bank.

Would definitely take the cash. Worked with a guy who was on that Wheel show with Vanna White back in the 90's. He was the jackpot winner for the show (I believe this was before they were making large cash prizes available) and told me that he had to pay taxes on his show winnings and the amounts were all inflated for the merchandise he got--said it was the most expensive vacation to CA he had ever taken due to the taxes.

I would probably not buy a ticket where a prize was offered unless there was a cash option. Usually the winner is taxed for the full retail value. Plus, if the prize is a trip, it's always based on ppdo. I'll enter a contest with prizes just for the heck of it if it's free, but cash is always my first choice.

I never buy scratchers with prizes cuz I'd rather have the cash. With prizes you gotta come up with money to pay the taxes. Since I probably wouldn't have the money for taxes, I'd end up selling the prize. I'd still come out with some $$$ in the bank, but it's so much easier just to win the $$$ in the first place.

Do people enjoy buying the Scratchers with prizes other than cash? I notice a lot of lotteries offer trucks, cars, trips, motorcycles. Just wanted to know if you would rather have cash.
