Things probably haven't changed all that much, the Vegas casino with the heavy Hawaiin trade is The Califronia (downtown, around the corner from the end of Fremont street). The Tropicana gets a lot of Hawaiin play too, bit the Cal is the only opne that lets them really cut loose.

AC definitley wouldn't tolerate anything like it.

Okay, Coin Toss. I wasn't quite sure, but I'm glad they weren't alive. Frogs have it bad enough as it is. I'm glad my legs don't taste like chicken.

I don't know what to say about the tea leaves. At least it wasn't coffee. Imagine someone walking into a casino with Juan Valdez and his mule.

CT - I never heard this one before. I can visualize it though. Can you imagine a casino neophyte walking through and stumbling upon a rampant frog winning table? I probably would have thought it was a new type of chip. I've been to AC a couple of times but don't play table games usually. I do like to watch. Next time, I'll watch a little closer. I'm also trying to get to Vegas but want to go all comp -- Jake

No, not live frogs. Little plastic frogs, stuffed animal frogs, etc...

They put the litTle platic ones on top of their bets and the stuffed animal ones up in the rail of the table. The plastic ones were packages in a small bag that said, Lucky Kagul - (which means frog in Japanese).

Were these live frogs? I've read this before, so I know it's no bull, but it sounds a tad strange, but this is a poll, so I guess I shouldn't jump on you too hard.

I don't have a lucky charm, so I wonder if that means I'm not a serious gambler. However, I do agree with Jake that most people have a superstition or two.

Gambling and sports (and Hollywood) are rife with superstition - in casinos it's not just the players but the house, also.

For years in Vegas (and probably in some joints to this day) casinos were paranoid about facial hair on the dealers- the story is many years ago, a guy came in looking for a job in the dice pit (called an audition, you have to get on a live game and show them you can get around the layout) - Well they put him on the stick (calls the numbers rolled) and the shooter rolled... I have never met a serious gambler who did not have a charm or ritual involved in their efforts to win. Personal rituals are just that, personal and, understandably, most people just don't divulge this side of themselves.
