After all the shenanigans the Hoosier Lottery has pulled it still amazes me that there are always people ready to leap to the defense of these crooks.

The Hoosier Lottery's Lotto game is NOT an estimated jackpot. It goes up by a flat $500,000 after the second draw and regardless of how many tickets are sold it continues to go up by $500,000. Having higher payouts and jackpots then predicted is not unusual because until the jackpot is won and all sales figures are in the predicted jackpot is a guess at best and most lotteries will state that somewhere on their websites. That has happened in both PowerBall and MegaMillions and some state lotteries before. Texas got in trouble a couple of years ago posting higher jackpots then they could pay so most states prefer to post a conservative figure to avoid the problem.

There is definitely something hinky going on because if you go to the Hoosier Lottery website and check the press release they not only confirm the $40 million cash payout but also state the estimated annuity is $2.3 million a year for 30 years. That is a total annuity payout of $69 million on a $54 million jackpot!

How can the total of annuity payments be $15 million more than the total jackpot? First they give us what..?...a 65% to 70% cash value and now the total annuity payments are gre... [ More ]

You have several choices, two of them are buy a LP membership and download from here or download them from the Hoosier lottery website, that what I did.

You can also download a program like LottoPro for a free trial which will include updated files for all the lotteries it supports.

There has been almost 1200 drawings since 09/24/94.

I was running some simulations with my system on the Hoosier Lotto this morning and noticed the drawing for 04/28/07 had the number 11 which at the time had gone 102 drawings without a repeat.

The feature I added to my system uses the average repeat frequencies of all 48 numbers and those of the six winning numbers of each drawing to calculate a density factor and that may have effected that calculations because most numbers in the winning combination hit 1-5 times in the previous 8-25 draw... I know the feeling, I was coding this feature into my system for last night's MegaMillions drawing but I didn't get it debugged in time so I didn't play. Fortunately I use it with both pick5 and pick6 games so I can use it for any game that I play.

Clerks see hundreds of lottery tickets sold and only a few dollars paid out in prizes every week so when they see anyone spending a thousand dollars on lottery tickets it's going to become part of the conversation with their customers who like to talk.

Ok, I decided to play all quick picks for last night's draw as well. From the previous draw I had won 4 free quick picks and $3 and I spent the $3 on 3 quick picks, so I had 7 free quick picks. If there's any time to play Hoosier Lotto, it's now, because after it's won, it could be a very long time before it comes even close to what it is now. I don't think the jackpot is the only prize to justify a switch from PowerBall though. It all depends on which scale you want to play and what odds you want. For this drawing a 4 of 6 paid $44 and a 5 of 6 paid $1189. $44 doesn't cover the price of the 70 lines that I would had played but gambling for a $50M jackpot in Indiana would be a one shot deal for me so I would want to take my best shot even if I lost $50.

When I say most concerned with 6/6 , that is what I mean, but there are still plenty of sets that will win lower tier prizes. I have certain constant variables within the program that I change each drawing. Some have to do with certain characteristics of the most recent drawings, while some determine the aggressiveness of elimination of sets most likely not to be 6/6. When I play the lottery locally, I come up with a new list for each drawings because the combinations I pick are effected by the most recent winning numbers. However when I travel to Indiana to play PB I usually play the same numbers for two drawings which is what I would probably do if I played the Hoosier Lotto.

A static list is usually hot then cold then hot again like that. You can't expect the same degree of results each drawing. It may do 2/6s (or worse) several drawings in a row before dropping a 5/6 bomb

The odds of picking a 6/6 winner out of a few numbers (picking 6 from 48) is higher(harder) than eliminating the 6/6 winner from all possible combinations (removing other 6-number combinations). Aren't the odds of eliminating a 6/6 winners as remote as the odds of picking a 6/6 winners?

My program also use parameters that cover 80% of past winners but I'm disappointed if it eliminates any winners at all, even a 3/6. My program picked a 5/6 in the Ohio Super Lotto a few years back and even though it was only one number off from a 6/6, I was happy to get the win. Heck I was happy to get a 4+0 MegaMillions winner a couple of months ago.

Hard to say. My program is most concerned with a set most likely to get 6/6 which can cause some sets that would otherwise have won a lower tier prize be eliminated. It also chooses the sets that it considers good randomly. That's why I don't get upset even if I don't win anything using my system, as long as the 6/6 winner wouldn't be eliminated when I run the simulation. I went from bad to worst. Had I played that list for Wednesday drawing, it would have only matched 2 thirteen times and no match3 at all, that doesn't even match the normal odds of a hit.

Had I played that list for Saturday drawing it would only matched 3 twice but it would have matched 2 sixteen times. The performance of that list has convinced me that I don't need to drive to Indiana to lose.

A lot of play slips only have five boards, so a multiple of 5 would make sense but usually my system cycles and tries to use each number once each cycle so a 6/48 game might get eight combinations on its first cycle and less each addition cycle depending on the parameters I choose.

I can always eliminate any extra combinations later if I want.

A round number is one that ends in 0. You didn't make your limit 40, or 50, or 100 combos. You let your system exhaust out to 102. Most people use a multiple of 5 for their limits.

I was thinking it was waiting for me to drive over and give it a shot but last night I ran a simulation of playing these 102 lines and I only matched 3 three times and matched 2 twelve times.

On the last drawing I matched 4/6. When I saw this I thought Hey that's gotta be pretty decent win I have here.

If lotteries paid out what everyone thought matching any of the numbers should pay, they would pay out a lot more than they receive in tickets sales.

If you could check their website after you won then you could have checked it before you played and known what to expect. Chances are if you had played their pick 3 game and got a box hit, you would be whining too.

You know, it's usually better to find out information about a game BEFORE you play. You didn't do that, so you were disappointed in the amount once you discovered it. You shouldn't have expected to win hundreds of dollars for getting 4/6 numbers on a Pick 6/48 game. Actually most states with a Pick 6 game don't pay more than $100, and the ones that pay more than $40 also have a bigger matrix. In recent weeks I've been playing the hoosier lotto just because the jackpot is big now. otherwise I wouldn't mess with it.

On the last drawing I matched 4/6. When I saw this I thought Hey that's gotta be pretty decent win I have here.

So I check the their website to see how many weeks of groceries it will cover.

In September 1994, Hoosier Lotto replaced Lotto Cash. Hoosier Lotto was designed to have more winners and bigger jackpots and offered the only match two of six prize in a pick-six game in North America.

I recently downloaded the results of all 1184 drawings from 09/24/94 to 10/05/07. I've started breaking down the data by comparing the file to itself. As you can see combinations of sixes only happened once and combinations of fives only repeated 44 times.

I guess I wasn't meant to win $50M, I guess I was meant to win more. I'm going to step it up next draw and play $30. I play $20 on it about 6 months using my system and got 4 3/6's and 3 2/6's, but since then I got all kinds of new and better stuff. Newer stuff and an extra $10 this time could mean a jackpot win.

It continues to roll. With odds of 1:7 of winning a free ticket and only 260,521 of them won, I'm guessing the jackpot not attracting a lot of players.
