But speed figures are based on pace. A slow pace means a low speed figure. Horse and jockey are going for the finish wire, not a high speed figure. This race looks like a fairly quick 6 furlong pace for the 1 1/4 mile, let's say 1:12, which sets it up for Alexander with a 110 late pace rating, the highest of the group.
