Thanks all. I had dug through the search a few days ago and found the most recent change (Aug 31, 2005). That stats page is nice. I didn't realize they had changed the game so many times.

Moving the goal line , in my opinion.

Go to www.usamega.com (or click the USA Mega logo on the left) and click on Powerball Statistics. The bottom of the page lists EVERY version of Powerball. You can pull up stats for them all.

If you're interested in more history, you can click the Where to Play under the POWERBALL heading and see when each state joined the game -- stretching back to when it was called Lotto America.

I found this statement on the Colorado lottery site:

When did the Powerball matrix change?

The Powerball matrix changed on August 30, 2005. The Multi-State Lottery group (MUSL) that oversees Powerball voted to change the field of numbers from 53 to 55 and to increase the starting jackpot amount to $15 million. This change was adopted by all of the states offering Powerball to its players.
