Looks as if more non-QP tickets win. If 75% or better are sold, it indicates that they are no more of an advantage than playing personal numbers.

It's possible there are more picked combinations than 25% or as you have already noted, when the highest number is under 32, it's likely there will be more picked combination winners. The Fantasy 5 gives a free QP for matching 2 out of 5 numbers so even the people playing their own numbers will have QPs and that will inflates the QP percentage.... [ More ]

Okay - here's a question. Maybe Todd has specific information, but are the results that are displayed the next morning with the location manually entered or does a computer list them? The reason for this curiosity is that many times 5 or 6 winners used their own numbers, not a QP as you suggest is more common. I mentioned this before, but look at last night's game (I won't list the stores to save space)

Coin Toss a couple of the recent draws had 3 consecutive numbers. Nobody won when the number was 17-20-21-22-32 but 6 people hit 3-13-24-25-26 6 is a big different and the payout isn't very good (although I wouldn't complain) but if just one person had chosen the earlier combination, he/she would have won $290K.

Definitely. There are only 12 months and 31 days, so I think when numbers all fall below 31 they are usually birthdays and anniversaries. Either someone will choose the day his/her children were born or the month day and add an anniversay. I know people who do that.

On the other hand, there are a lot of fantasy-5 combinations that have low numbers where there is only 1 winner, others that have 5 or 6 or even 10.

Okay CT, I am also seeing just as many non-QP winners. The thing about pick-5 here is that you can win over $250k or end up with $25,000 if there are multiple winners. Rarely is there more than one winner in Lotto or MegaMoney, but of course the jackpots are much higher the odds are much greater. All the games cost a dollar. I guess I just need to decide on which game I'm going to waste my dollar.

OK, so for a 31 day run we had 21 jackpot winners in 31 days.

(The 21 winners counts jackpots that were split, there were 12 jackpots in the 31 days).

3 days really isn't enough to draw any conclusions, but on this run we've seen that a QP is more likely to be a solo hit and the average QP jackpot is about $21,000 more than a picked-number jackpot.

Mere chump change as compared to a Pick 6 or 5 +1, but how many of us have $21,000 in our pockets?

The Little Lotto is every night and I usually play it, sometimes not if the jackpot is at the $100,000 starting point.

Up to about three years ago I picked numbers, tracked numbers, etc.... then I subscribed to the e-mail I posted samples of here.

In three years I've seen two subscription winners (that's out of some 1095 draws), and when there is a jackpot, usually it's a quick pick.

I've also seen very few jackpot winners purchased at grocery stores, just an FYI.

Not quite the information, but it's in the right direction.

I can see that gathering actual total counts for Quick Pick data may be beyond your reach. If I'm prying too much, just let me know. From your reply in another topic, and I'm paraphrasing, you said that you usually get a $1.00 play; maybe $2.00 if the jackpot is high enough. I think there's some confusion here. In Florida there is a jackpot win almost every day of the week in Fantasy 5, usually more than one. Last month there were 2 days that I recall when there was a rolldown, meaning that nobody got all 5 numbers and the 4/5 winners shared the pot.

I don't know how other pick-5 games work in other states. I don't want to get in the middle, but I think the only thing that really counts is whether or not you come out ahead at the end of the year... [ More ]

If you read the OP what I said was let's track jackpots for a month and a day. (Nov 30- Dec 31 '07), so why then would I post days there was no jackpot win?

Furthermore, the daily stats for the lower tier prizes, if you've looked at any of the posts, only tell how many peole won $100, $10, or $1.

The point of this thread is, since most people obviously won't bother to subscribe to a results list, to track games day by day.

You know, when I read through this, there is some information that seem to be deliberately left out. It's something that would help me make a more informed decision on the purchasing of Quick Picks. It's the total number of Quick Picks it took to get those jackpots and also not just the days when there was jackpot win. You point out only the positive, but never show the negative side. That's consistent with what is know as a 'Con Game'.

Yes and no. Oy, here we go. A previous can thread or poll about this turned into a brouhaha but - there are more quick picks than lottery terminal quick picks.

How about hand held games that have poker and lotto, the lotto portion of them being a RNG of its own? If you play those numbers you fill the numbers out on the playslip, but you didn't pick them, it did. Of copurse the lottery can't know this so it goes as chosen numbers, not a quick pick.

In researching your inquiry further, as of April 3, 1990 to date, there were a total of 290 LOTTO Jackpot tickets and of the 290, 168 were Quick-pick

So now that I look at this statement again, that means that about 57%, of the jackpots won were with a QP. Since more than 75% of Lotto tickets purchased are QPs, then using your own numbers seems to be an advantage. Am I making sense here

I'm trying to do a picture is worth a thousand words thing here, or more accurately, one thread tracking actual results is worth 1,000 threads about the superiority of choosing your number vs quick picks, or vice versa, which ever way it turns out.

This is a very large vboard, as of today 57,243 Lottery Post Members.

Figure that on any given board maybe 6 - 20 % of the members are active and 6 - 20% of that percent post.

Same thing in Maryland they tell you where they were won and who won them but they do not tell us whether it was a quick pick or personal numbers.

statistics already point out that more winners win with quick picks because more people play/buy quick picks.

I see what you mean. Most winners in FL are QPs, but does that really tell us anything? It only indicates that the majority of players buy them. However, I've seen several Fantasy 5 jackpots won that weren't QPs. Is the report always accurate or is it entered manually? The Illinois Little Lotto is a 5 / 39 game ( it used to be 5 /30).

Tremendous difference in odds, but 2 numbers didn't pay anything in the 5 /30 game - now 2 numbers pay $1, the lesser prizes are fixed at $1, $10, and $100, previously they werent's fixed, depended on the actual play.
