Hi,

1- How about first proving the Null Hypothesis: that they are not fixed? Can you sooner prove (mathematically) that they are not fixed? If you cannot, then you have proven that they are indeed fixed .

2- I can give you a non-mathematical way: find an ethical way to examine the software packages of states who purchase these. I believe you would probably discover that states with computerized lotteries use super computers to run software that can run a set of pre-determined combinations

Hi RJOh:

I agree with you 100%. The point I'm trying to make is that if we see a bias over a short period of time, it's no reason to conclude that the lottery itself is unfair because of this short term bias. Indeed, we should exploit this opportunity and generate our selections based on the current trend or bias.

jayemmar

Hi Jade:

I'm afraid your sample set of 90 past draws is really insufficient to make a quality statistic, and hence, a solid conclusion about the fairness of the computer drawn lottery in your state. If you are talking about a 5 or 6 ball lottery, I'm sure I don't have to remind you of the total number of possibilities that there are, so 60 or 90 past draws constitue a drop in the bucket. I'm reminded of a statement that Gail Howard has made in several of her publications. This post is about the detection of those activities; if any exists. There can be any number of reasons why and how number fixing is done. This post deals with the way we can quantify it, represent it and see it. As we continue, this will become more evident as the data is collected and analyzed.

Keep up the Great work.

In the previous example, the color of the Quantum Points is a Gray Gradient from Light to Dark. The Darker the Quantum Point the more Probable you would likely find an actual data point. This is ok, but it doesn't clearly define what more probable than other areas of the graph. This is where a Color Gradient comes in. It helps with showing the more probable areas without taking away from the whole Quantum Point Graph. Quantum Gaussian Points work similar in that they give us a generalized concept of where the invisible, dimensionless point is.

Ok, now that I have some time, we can talk about the difference between Classical Cartesian Points and Quantum Gaussian Points. Classical Cartesian Points are the points drawn on a graph that show the abstract concept of points. Actual points are dimensionless; they have absolutely no size at all. In order for us to visualize the abstract and invisible, a small dot of some specific size is approximately placed on a graph to show the ideal, the concept, the representation of that point.

Ok, now that most of you have viewed the graph animation, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfYxlTZYE8c, of just one of the anomalies that have plagued the Badger 5 drawings since 2007-10-05. I'd like to address some other issues that have arisen during this topic. There is a misperception being injected into the mindset of those who are reading this. The misperception is that my objective in this post and others is to bring down my state lottery. That is not correct; at no point during this topic... [ More ]

Sledgemoto,

Thanks, I try to make this as easy to understand as possible. However, some of the number crunching can get a bit wielding at times. It's as close to laymen as I can get without loosing much of the fundamental concept of the analysis, method or idea.

Yeah, there are many unreasonable occurrences during the entire span of this computer generated number sche... [ More ]

If it is at all possible, lotteries may be rigged to provide one of two outcomes - either certain numbers played by those who do the rigging can be selected or the most popular numbers selected can be eliminated from the draw - and keep in mind that around 70% of all tickets purchased in any lottery will be quick picks. With the second possibility in mind data like this can be analyzed to eliminate certain numbers from non-QP selections to maximize the winning possibilities. Interesting thread
