I had no plans to buy a ticket on Christmas, but I had a Free Ticket for Fantasy5 on my desk and went down the street to 7-11. Not a winner this time, so my Free Ticket streak is over

I hadn't planned on buying any tickets Christmas Day, but it was sunny out and supposed to snow and be overcast the next day, so I decided to get out for a walk and bought a couple Powerballs.

New Jersey doesn't have drawings on Christmas Day. It gets moved to an adjacent day so I have seen tickets like Pick 6 with Sunday drawings. I don't know NY or PA, so I might have to get them there (play-ahead) because I like the added excitement of a drawing that day. Convenience stores may be open but not selling Lottery. Powerball definitely draws on Christmas - that's when the most famous of them all won. I assume Mega also. If not then it's likely to be a rare Monday drawing. The problem... [ More ]

Maybe.

I thought it was a religious question too, since convenience stores are open, so there's no reason to think you won't be able to find a retailer selling them. Although the odds are still the odds, there's probably less of a chance you might split the jackpot when less people are playing (no?) I notice that on Sun here, Fantasy 5 always has the lowest jackpot than on other days of the week (Fri Sat are the highest) and sometimes there aren't any winners at all on Sun (like this p... Maybe. There is a MM drawing on Christmas Day. I play MM but only if the cash option is at least $50 million, or occasionally with a cash option as low as $25 million if there haven't been too many opportunities to play due to frequent jackpot wins at lower amounts. Sooooooo, if there is not a MM winner in tonight's or Friday's drawings, yes, I'll purchase tickets for Christmas Day, but I'd do so over the weekend.

Nope. It's a Tuesday and there is no lottery games that I play on Tuesday. Powerball, Hot Lotto and Wild Card 2 are all on Wednesday and Saturday. When I buy tickets for Wednesdays game, I will buy them on Sunday, Monday or the day of the drawing.
