I just started taking cod liver oil every day. The brand I take is really good. I'm not worried about weight as much as clogged arteries. Between my love for mayonnaise, eggs, potato pancakes, sour cream, butter, and Taco Bell burritos, I need that Omega-3 ! The liquid vitamins I'm taking are also very good. I feel the difference already.

I always thought they put something extra in the Starbucks coffee, to keep people coming back, it didn't work on me though, the lotterys' additives are stronger, I'd rather spend $1.09 at 7-11 with all the creamer I need, and spend the extra couple of bucks on a P4 rather than a mocha macchiatto.

It's unlikely they would ever do anything to purposely harm the public, but I am sure the hormones in our food does affect our health. However, regarding fast food, in the early 90s McDonald's offered a McLean burger, but people didn't buy it. I used to buy a veggie burger at Burger King (Morningstar makes it) and nobody I know ever heard of it. Then they all began to offer salads and other low fat meals which are more popular. I don't think it is just fast food. I think that steriods, hormones, whatever is being put in the food that is sold at the store. Things like milk, eggs, meat etc. that folks buy everyday. I also don't think restaurants are conspiring against us to keep us fat. I think they are conspiring to take our money.

I voted yes, but that is wrong. I voted yes at first because I figured I would be out and about spending all that dough and would HAVE to eat at those places to keep my pace. I don't like slowing down once I get going., whether I have the money to do so or not. But once I thought about it, I probably would not. Funny, when I was younger I'd go on vacation and always dine out at a nice restaurant with a carafe of wine. I was never rich, but it was something I enjoyed as a treat. I no longer enjoy dining out, but I might get a meal to go if I felt like spending $15 or $20. I think many restaurants will prepare meals for you. Well I've been in Viet Nam, Korea and Japan.

In Korea there is one breed of dog that some Koreans eat, often it's a ceremonial meal for Buddhist holidays.

The meat is called kae gogi (literally dog meat) and it hangs from butcher shops along with the other meats, they don't cook the animal live.

And Korea is no longer a poor Asian country.

Of course I'd eat fast food. But I wouldn't eat it as often. Given that I probably or I wouldn't be going to work and wouldn't be in a rush all the time I wouldn't see the need to. On the other hand I wouldn't eat at Five star restaurants every night of the week. I would still enjoy the occasional take out burrito from Chipotle or the Burger from Hardees. I should have been more specific. The 'meat' I was referring to was dogs and cats, and in that context, 'asian countries' means poor asian countries, which usually excludes Japan. Maybe it's all just vicious rumor. Forget I brought it up. Everyone back to your burgers, there's nothing to see here.

I think it's more like instead of trotting the animals off en masse to a slughterhouse they take them aside one by one and pet them so they don't know what's coming.

The theory is when animals are led to slaughterhouses en masse and they know what's coming, they release toxins in their bodies that wind up in the meat we eat.

This difference in processing is one of the reasons Kobe beef is so expensive.

Come on! It is all mass produced produce and is meant to be cheap.

Who knows how much of that lettuce is bleached and what chemicals the veggies are treated with or what they were grown in. They get the stuff from the cheapest source and it may have been watered with minning run-off or urine...depending on what country/countries they get it from.

They may have foods that seem healthy but that is just a marketing manipulation.

It's perfectly ok to give your point of view Time*Treat. One of many ways I learn is by observing all points of view and kinda stirrin it in the pot, if you know what I mean. The rituals of society such as one example you state about the boiling alive is obviously traditional. I suppose most people know that doing this is not right, and in some extreme cases like mine...evil.

time*treat, recently I was researching customs in Asian countries and saw some horrifying pics of dogs being tortured. Wish I hadn't seen it which is why I will never use that link to give someone else nightmares. It makes you wonder why doing cruel things to a pig is any better.

Unfortunately, a baked potato is as bad as a fried one. A doctor once said that eating a potato is like taking all the contents out of the skin of the potato and filling it to the top with sugar. Carbs turn to sugar. A diabetic nightmare.

As for the salads, most people will buy one and then drench it with ranch or some other creamy dressing.

Not everything on the menu at fast food joints is deep fried. At Wendy's they have baked potatoes and salads and a lot of other places also offer salads and other healthy alternatives. Since you don't eat out and you admit that, you might want to do your research before proclaiming that all the food on the menu at fast food resturants as swill .

Make sure you win the lottery before you buy a juicer. Those $99 centrifugal juicers (like the ones advertised on TV) extract almost everything but a little juice. So you go out and buy a pound of organic carrots and get 1 glass of juice and a lot of waste to throw out, unless you like making carrot muffins and carrot cake, carrot meatballs, carrot ice cream...lol I returned mine for a more expensive auger type juicer, but then I had to chop till I dropped! I don't eat it now and would not eat it after either.

I cant afford to cause myself all those health problems.

Plus, I find the plastic and the metal and the floor-tile atmospehre to be depressing.

I cant imagine why anyone would want to eat that stuff or eat anything that has been deep fried...if you do you might as well smoke and chew tobacco while you are at it .

Yes, I LOVE fast food! A $100 kobe burger at a fancy restaurant can't even begin to compare with a nice juicy Wendy burger or a TJ's (local joint) or a Carl's six dollar burger.

I've never even thought of fast food as a poor person's food.

Truth is, I'd eat even more of it because I could afford to go on a regular basis to get all that fat that it puts on sucked off my body. J/K
