I have not heard a valid (to me) reason YET why winners can not be anonymous.

Perhaps you've noticed that some people already think that state lotteries are using fraudulent methods to get more than the 50% they're guaranteed by simple probability? Suppose the lotteries just said, somebody, but we're not saying who, won. Really. You can take our word for it, even though no actual person is coming forward to say that they won.

I think a winner needs to be COMPENSATED for all the free publicity the games get. If they are allowed to remain anonymous, then the Lottery owes no compensation.
