I agree with you 100% ! The government wants to restrict us to playing the unfair lotteries here... It makes me sick to my stomach... We need to start a movement !!! Power in numbers!!!

Lottery officials know that nobody will protest and they will get away with it like they always have. STATE LOTTERIES are not For the people .

(PRIVATE) Poker tournaments and Football Pools offer much better odds than the lottery when comparing to pick 3 , pick 4 and scratch games.

Yet, Government puts it's BIG FOOT down and heavily restricts the PEOPLE from having such better opportunities. And then turns around and expects some average Joe to plop down $30 on some high odds lottery scratch ticket.

It's all HYPOCRISY

I feel your pain ... when you lose on those, it hits your wallet alot harder. You can still make good money on 2 and 5 dollar tickets. The most I ever won on a scratch ticket was $1,000 and that was a $2 ticket. I'll never forget that... I got a star on my ticket and won the whole thing.. all 10 prizes were $100 each. It was the only time I had to go to a lottery agency to pick up my check.

I bought 2 of those $30 tickets only because they just put out a brand new roll of them in their display case where I buy my tickets. Cost me $60 ... 1st ticket had no win and the 2nd one had a $50 win, so I only lost $10 fortunately. I just had to take a chance and try a $30 ticket as I never played one that high before. I think I'll stick with $5 and $ tickets... at least I'll have a better chance... hopefully. But I always ask my lottery clerk which tickets are the newest for my best chances.... [ More ]

I felt down and empty when I brought a $20.00 ticket, scratched it and had nothing.

Odds for this game aren't bad. I believe 1:2.3. However, I don't like the price tag. I have bought $20 tickets here and there but $30 is a little overboard. I'm not saying I wouldn't do it because I'm always up for trying something new. I can say it wouldn't be an everyday purchase.

I can't see myself ever paying that much for a scratch-off. It was hard enough for me to spend $10 to buy raffle tickets. I wouldn't plop down $30 to buy any ticket.

I agree that it's a personal choice. However, I see people who drop $200 as if it's spare change (it probably is) on $20 scratch tickets. It takes money to make money and these higher priced tickets are proving just that. You can't win if you don't play is true, but they never say how much is enough. The gambling problem that the lottery has created is much more serious than anyone is admitting. I think $30 and $50 scratcher tickets are ridiculous and only for people who have so much money they don't know what to do with it, or people who really have a problem- but who is pointing a gun at anyone and making them but a $30 0r $50 tickets instread of a much less costly ticket

This doesn't make sense:

$20 MILLION GRAND PRIZE: Players who win $1,000 or $20,000 will be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing for $20 million after redeeming their winning ticket.

So are they saying if you win the $1 million prize you aren't eligible for the $20 million? Don't get me wrong. If I spent $30 and won a million, I'd be very pleased. But they're only entering 2 of the top prizes for a second chance? What about the $500 and $200 winners

Hey, neighbor! On a new thread this week LottoMike asked about changes in 2008 and I said I predicted a $50 scratcher. I had no idea there was a $30 instant game yet.

Wish I were that psychic when picking the Lotto numbers! Anyway, $30 isn't $50 so again I'm just a little off...story of my life.

I agree with you about the big gambling problem in Florida.

And they claim to be concerned about problem gamblers?

Average Joe with a gambling problem takes $30 from his paycheck (avg 10% of his net check) to play a scratch tix that statistically speaking will yield him nothing!

HOW SAD IS THAT!
