so much for those calling for boycotting the new pa cash 5 with 43 balls...They have had a jackpot winner 4 times in a row with the game nearly twice as hard to win...participation in the game seems to be about the same or even slightly more...that buy 5 get 1 free ticket is working apparently...the second prize winnings are very low compared with 5,066 odds.

Here are some more ideas for Penn-

Charge sales tax on lottery tickets

Charge a ticket cashing fee on all winning tickets

Add a recycling or landfill fee to all tickets

Print scratchers on tissue paper and then don't redeem winners if they are torn up

Charge a service tax on the ticket cashing fee

Thank you to the posters who gleened over my original question. Granted when a hot discussion about the *unfairness* is at hand , its difficult to take a moment . I've since chosen to play Cash 5. Reason: The matrix change hasnt affected my loss record! I still lose :) ANd who said being persistent doesnt pay

i haven't played the tennessee lottery in a half a year due to it changing to RNG.there are some things happening now in the pipeline to try and get it changed back to balls,i'm keeping fingers crossed.....

Greg, I agree that the change is bad for the players and what they are doing is messed up because it is defenitely meant to make more money for the lottery and the state. The points i am trying to make are 1: that they don't give you other alternatives that are better. and 2: After a while the money will lure the people into it ...this trick works every time...(what do you think the free ticket with a block of 5 is (a bait))...

But... And maybe those of you that have RNG already can help me here. I really dont trust the commission enough to be fair if computer systems are involved in the decision. Maybe im foolling myself altogether, cause even though i read that thread on the manipulated lottery ( is the lottery rigged? ), I didnt believe it. For the people that said they will boycott (myself included), I think we are all saying that in anger but after (say a month?) I beleive that we WILL PLAY IT.

Here's why: if you play lotto regularly then what game will you play as an alternative to Cash 5? ...

After a little while when people see the jackpots reaching close to $500,000 (and this will happen often) they WILL PLAY ..THE reasons why: It will be the best payout will the best odds offered daily.

Lots of times, people in high positions just want to crap down on everyone. I cant see paying $2 for a JP lotto ticket. And I wont pay $2 or I'll stop completely. They make all these ridiculous prices for things, like the new $30 scratch ticket here in FL..and people still buy them. IM WITH YOU! BOYCOT the whole mess of 'em. I don't ever remembering a reduction once a change has been put into place but hey, theres alway a first time. And the day we change to RNG is the day I stop playing. JP or no JP, computers can be manipulated waaaaaay too easily.

Thank you for this post. What an eye opener! Its terribly sad to see such results without the feedback of the community. I doubt ANY PA PLayers had one vote in this new structure.

I for one do have a say where my money goes and it wont be to the CASH 5!

On another note, I'm confused on the Pick 6 pricing. I've always paid 2$ for a Match six ticket.

Has the starting jackpot changed for that as well? It was 500k.

Are the Jackpots getting bigger or going up faster? If so then $2 is not such a big deal...prices go up and if you want the jackpot to be worth something then ticket prices should go up if jackpots go up. Otherwise by the time you win your Million it could be like winning ten cents today.

As far as all the other crap PA is pulling, I agree it is bad.

I will abandon playing Cash 5 in PA as of 2/1/08. The game is difficult now and not worth the ridiculous compensation you get in return, and also not having any previous data to analyze in order to do my own picks. I will still take a $1 or $2 dollar shot with a quick pick once it gets high but thats about it.

Good thought, but the lottery execs know that there will always be enough players to sustain a game - no matter how many threaten to boycott a game, few ever really do. The lottery is an absolute example of if you build it they will come. (More accurately, if you offer it they will play it).

Thats terrible to do that to the lottery games that lots of people like to play on a daily basis. I only have 1 word 'BOYCOT !!!' Hit them back in their wallets. Boycot the PA lottery... you will get results FAST.

Maybe theres a hidden agenda in all this. Maybe they(the lottery exec's) want to discourage people to play the lottery so that maybe people will gamble in a casino there or in a neighboring state, which the exec's may have invested in and want to drive traffic their way. Just a thou... [ More ]

it'll get worse as time goes by.if i had been around in the mid 90's i guarantee you i would be rolling in money now from playing the easy matrixes they had back then.the glory days were when states had those 5/27 matrixes and you actually had a real good shot at hitting something and the playing field was level and fair.but goodness gracious the lottery realized we actually had a good chance and they begin raising the numbers to see if we would still play and we did.so then they did this and ra... WOW! I'm Shocked!! Thank God I moved to China!!! I lived in PA before coming here. I use to play the take 5 all the time and it was hard then to get five. You're right, what a joke!!!!!! 1- The doubling of the Pick 6 game price from $1. to $2.

2- The Introduction of a Computerized Pick 5 game (5/30)

3- The MASSIVE reduction of Cash 5 payouts starting at a whopping $10,000. (what a joke) for that same 5/30 computerized game (whereas the initial payout for the 5/39 game starts at $100,000-- yes, $90k more for just... [ More ]
