yep the good 'ol days i remember all the games mentioned above.i had an atari and a nintendo and loved them and played 'em for hours and hours every day.some people might laugh but i haven't played a video game since 1991 mainly because they started changing too much from the fun stuff i liked.

In 1980 I was not old enough to play the lottery but I do remember running off reams of paper playing Oregon Trail on The DECWriter Terminals...the ones with the speedy 300 Baud accoustic coupled Modems (you had to dial{yes an actual dial} the mainframe and then put the phone in the suction cups).

(S)hoot.....BLAM!....you missed.

A good use of wide column paper if ever there was one.

a lot of the kids these days make fun of the graphics on atari,pac man and the games back in the 80's but i'll always be fond of atari and the first nintendo with stuff like super mario.those were fun games for that time period.

I had a Commodore VIC-20 3.5k RAM computer. Connected it to a TV, stored programs on audio cassettes. Those were the days indeed. I later upgraded to the C64 then the C128. I remember those days well. I went PC in the early 90s, because Commodore stuff was getting harder and harder to find.

I also remember when online was dialup BBSes and later AOL. I never though something like high speed internet would be in my home in my lifetime, but I have it now.

How things change.

I had to actually, physically get up to change the 3 channels we had at the time, On our 25 inch T.V. which was the size of a Volkswagon....lol

The box it came in was at one time a playhouse i made, with windows, and doors. Not really. That was earlier...lol...like 1975....lol

Bread cost 30 cents a loaf.

We also had a repairman come and fix that beast. I was told not to touch the bare back of the T.V. because of the shock i would possibly get, caused by capacitors.

1980 let's see. I was graduated from UGA December 1979 and was a first year teacher in 1980. What a scary thought. But I am still a middle school teacher years later. Teaching in the 80's was a breeze compared to the 90's. I think the 90's Ushered in a new bred of children. And as a science teacher I do believe some of them are beings from outer space and some are as far away as HELL.

I was 12 years old and in the 6th grade in 1980. It wasn't a great year for me. For one thing, I was attending a Catholic school, which thank goodness I didn't go back to the next year.

1980 was awesome!...It's when I first entertained the fantasy of my mom's best friend, uumm....winning the lottery. every since then I have dedicated myself to making that fantasy a reality. no luck yet but after 27 years the dream is still alive. Funny you mention the hostages. I was actually there in battery Park, in Manhattan, N.Y. when the the hostages were released and on a floatilla going through. I asked my supervisor for an early lunch break just to witness the event.

I was involved in a program at school where I worked one week for credit and went to school the other week. It was a co-op program for kids in high school who wanted to earn credits working at a job and get paid at the same time while earning credits for school.

Let me see, if I remember right, when Regan won the election our hostages were still being held in Iran. Regan got sworn in and within 24 hours the Iranians released the hostages.

The kind of thing that happens when the White House goes from being led by a pussy cat to being led by a cowboy.

The 1980s music was great, Journey, Abba, Air Supply, etc...you know, music you could still understand the words to!
