Jarasan, I agree with you. Many times when I was working 60 hours a week I'd even hire someone to clean my house. But what does this have to do with getting married? If I want to find a man to fix something around the house, I just need to ask a neighbor. I rent now, but when I owned a house, I would often call one of those handyman ads in the local paper. It goes both ways, most of the women and men I know, with very few exceptions, have the faintest idea or care how anything is done, fixed, or works, they would rather pay someone to do it. None of them can quit working for 1 day. One of my X's hated the fact I had a workshop and I wouldn't hire anyone to do anything when I could do it for material cost. Oh yeah, she broke it to me after co-habitating she was a financial bankrupt mess, go figure, money changes everything.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. People think it's easy to leave a spouse and strike out on their own until they add up the cost. When two people were sharing the bills and just getting by now they will have to foot the bills independently.

For the man this can be even more difficult especially if children are involved and alimony to boot.

Money isn't the reason people stay married, it's the reason they don't split. The reality is that a lot of people can't afford to go out and live on their own. Some of those people are living with their parents after a divorce, and some are people who would get divorced if they could afford it. Even when a relationship is bad it can be hard to leave. Add serious financial hardship and uncertainty and it shouldn't be so hard to see why some people stay.

I ex - daughter in law was a screamer. She was very pleasant to the family members but behind closed doors she gave my son hell. I didn't believe it until her mother told me it was true.

Wow... After reading this post I realized I did hit the lottery.. 10-08-99 When I met my soul mate.

I would never dream of yelling at him. (I raised my voice once when he was driving because he didn't see a car on right.) Guess that doesn't count since it saved our lives.

Guesser, I love you, but I have to agree with tenaj on this one. Everytime my hubby and I fight, I come off looking like the bad guy. But it is usually him who was the actual cause for the fight. Unlike pac, if my hubby doesn't do something right when I yell at him about it, he NEVER does it. Some things just don't get done because I am not willing to fight all the time with him about them. I can't stand naggers, and that's why I'll never ever get married.

When I was a kid, my dad would nag me to death. Maybe I have a complex...lol

I'm free, free as a bird, and will make sure it stays that way.

The biggest issue I have with naggers, is that if I don't do what they want at that very instant, the world will stop turning. And at the end of the day, every chore was taken care, but it was done on my own time scale, not theirs.

I understand what you are saying, Guesser, and JWBlue said it logically...money plays a big part in every relationship. However, if the love is strong, then it shouldn't matter. I know people who have lost their spouses to illness and, if they won $100 million, they'd give it all back just to be with them for a few more years.

Sorry you are going through a lot. Try to be sympathetic when she's depressed. I hope you don't have children if she needs medication refuses to take it.

Some folks have great relationships, and to those of you I applaud you.

And then there are those of us married to psychotic spouses - which most of you will NEVER understand.

Here are some examples of my situation:
