Good for you. Don't believe it. I notice the same thing in Georgia. But believe it or not I read where in one state not only do they keep track of the roll a big win ticket is in but also where it goes. I read the article on this website. But I can't remember the state. I do believe that all states have the same basic rules. So yeah, nc knows, not only what roll but also where it goes. Yes the tickets for scratch have really gone up. Yesterday for the first time in a long time after I bought my pick 3 tickets I bought some $2 tickets and a $3 bingo ticket and won $30 on one of the $2 ones and $3 on one and $3 on another one for a total of $36 and I was thrilled.......the two dollar ticket was called speedway and if you got a picture of a car you instantly won $10 and I got 3 of them on one card....almost fainted..........but was thrilled....I'm sick with a sinus infection and... This is true. My friend at the liquor store told me to buy the ones around the white line because those are the winners. Sometimes they are,sometimes not. We have a relatively new $10 card called cash spectacular in NC and I have bought many of them. My favorite no. at the bottom of the card was 014 as I have won $100 3 times with that no. and $50 twice but the luck did not hold out as I have bought at least 3 of that no. and have won nothing.

Illogic reasoning runs rampant in my work town. About two weeks back a customer walks into a store, buys 1 $20 scratcher and hits for 250,000$. Word gets out and folks flock to various stores around the area to specifically buy THAT particular game. Why is this illogical? First off, geographically speaking its rare that TWO LARGE WINS from that series would hit in the same area. Duh! Secondly, if someone hit it, you aint gonna. Its that simple. No math required, just common sense.

I don't buy scratch offs, but I observed a couple of things : some players check the three digit number at the bottom right corner of the ticket and only purchase if the number is within a specific range. I also heard that tickets that were torn at the perforation and have a piece of the previous ticket on it are considered good luck. Ouch today. I bought 2/$20 tickets and they were losers. I thought about buying another but decided to pass. I can't imagine the feeling winning $5 million from a $20 ticket. I hope I win.

I emailed NC lottery before, and asked them if they knew where they send the most winning tickets. They said no, The tickets are mailed at random . Which means, they don't have a clue to where they are being sent. I just don't believe that

That's too bad, I noticed for a time that the winners seem to be in St. Louis, as did other folks who wrote to the lottery office about it. Now, there seems to be a bit of balance.

Recently, 3 folks split a million dollar ticket in Independence, so that's saying something. Someone just won the 4 million grand prize in Branson, and they weren't over the age of 60, again, that's something.

Pogo, I love that rule. NC scratchers seem to be a waste of time!!! It seems as if they send all the big winners to the more wealthy cities in NC. I live in Northeastern NC, and its very rare that we have big winners here.

Thanks for the luck! Yes, the $20 are costly, I buy one at a time, and like you, I stick to the $5 and $10 tickets, though the 10 are my favorites, I tend to buy two at a time.

Someone in my State won the 4 mil on the 20 ticket, so that leaves just two of the 4 mil jackpots, but I'll take a million

$20 tickets has the best odds of winning a big prize but when you lose, you also lose big. In your case it would not hurt u that much by buying 1 ticket. IMHO it is not worth it. I prefer $5 and $10 tickets. Good luck.

I love to buy scratchers here and there, the fact that some of you buy a roll at a time is amazing!

The $1 tickets don't interest me at all, but I love those 5, 10 and 20 dollar tickets, which begs the question, are the $20 tickets worth it? The prizes are 1 mil and 4 mil. Now I would take either one! I play a ticket or two every other week and have won my money back, and $100 last year. The $20 is brand new by the way. Thoughts

That's true... I really prefer to buy a new roll of either $5 or $10 tickets... I usually end up spending $200 and winning between $170 $220. BTW, I like the 4 wins in a row - WTG, Pogo

Last week I bought 4 - $5 tickets on the same roll, but they were losers. I bought the next four more. Guess what, all were winners. Winners can happen at any number. I try to buy from the same roll. You are bound to hit something.

First, I'm from NC my number 1 rule is - don't play scratchers in NC.

Now, since I live just a short drive from VA - I play mostly $5 $10 tickets with an occasional $20 mixed in... I bounce from game to game and if I hit I'll play a follower if and only if my gut or Dad says to play the next one, otherwise it's bouncing to the next one. If I haven't hit anything within 3 consequtive tickets I go to the next game as well, because you'll only hit a break even ticket if you're lucky. VA tickets... [ More ]

I once saw a woman win $7500 on a scratch ticket.For three days the clerks at the store advised everyone that was buying tickets not to buy from that game because of the win.Finally the woman came back and bought the very next ticket...you guessed it...she won another $2500.My point is:You never know which ticket is going to be a winner.

Wow.. three days later and nothing sold from a pack. We do not tell the shift behind us which pack got hit. We are there to move the packs.

I have sold tickets for TN since the beginning. #6 does not apply to TN. Many of times the first -fifth ticket of a new roll has the $1000 winner on the $10 ticket and $500 on the Jumbo ticket.

So skipping them will help assure you that you will not get that prize on that particular game.

Here are a couple of tips that I think can be useful to most scratchoff players

I've been doing a lot of research lately on scratchoffs and I've found that lower priced games have a disadvantage to the player in the 33% to 40% range. When you start playing games that are $10 or $20 or more the advantage to the state drops down to about 22%-25%.

A few years back, I bought one $2 Win-for-Life ticket in NY. It was a $2.00 winner. So, I bought the next one. Another $2 winner. I got the next one, and it was a $100 winner. Another time, in NJ, I bought 5 $2 tickets, and 4 were winners.

I believe it's just superstition that there can't be more than one consecutive winner.

Scratch tickets winnings are random.I've won on the first ticket in the pack.I've won on the last ticket in the pack.I've won on three consecutive tickets.Here in Iowa they seldom have 1000 or more top prizes on a scratch ticket,so that rule wouldn't apply here.If I get a free ticket I don't play that game again,if the prize isn't cash I don't play.

Just giving folks a heads up that have proven to be quite profitable for me. This may depend on your state but hopefully you'd be able to get some information that will help.

1. Stay away from buying a single $1 ticket. Chances are you will lose. You should buy these tickets in multiples of at least 4.
