STR = Straight...meaning you only win if you play 5-2-9 and the draw comes out 5-2-9. Playing a pick marked as straight only gives you 1 combination..... or 1:1000

BOX = Boxed...meaning: 3 unique numbers gives you 6 combinations or 2 identical 1 unique number gives you 3 combinations as my example above. I think you are trying to combine the examples they gave.

I guess what confused me is that it said

Str - 529 - 1 in 1000

Then

Box - (2 identical 1 unique) - 599,959,995 - 1 in 333

So were they not using the winning number 529 for the 2 identical and 1 unique example

I'm no pro at this but your answer to #2 is YES. You would still lose unless your state's PICK-3 drawing allowed betting front or back pairs. So if the winning draw was 5-2-9, you would win playing front pair 5-2 or back pair 2-9. If you can't play pairs then you would lose.

The answer to #3 is:

Every draw has the same odds in winning. That is, 1:1000 because there are 1,000 possible combinations. 0 - 0 - 0 to 9 - 9 -9.

With a Box bet of 3 different numbers, 5-2-9. You get six combinati... [ More ]
