i know what you are saying....also tonight for powerball they stopped the wheel when the 10 multiplier was way on top so there was no chance of ball landing there tonight...later after a while when they reach their sales excpectations for powerplay they will stop it so its close... i would like to see that multiplier wheel disappear and replaced by a ball machine or other method ...or spin that wheel 5 times faster than it spins currently....whos to say that they cant stop it at some particular

the lottery wont let you win a huge amount of money in powerball or mega million withouth making it very difficult to win. i know what 1 in 100 million mean. it means if you take 100 million $1 doller bills stacked up including just one fake one, your odds of knowing where the fake one is 1 in 100 million. you know how hard that is

If I said that then I was wrong. (for MegaMillions only) Since the last matrix change 50% of the time 5 numbers have been drawn in the previous 22 drawings, only 20% of the time has 5 numbers been drawn in the previous 15 drawings. However, 60% of the time 4 of the 5 numbers have been drawn in the previous 15 drawings.

Tonight's winning numbers were 04 17 26 46 56 +25. All but the number 46 was in my pool and I didn't win anything. Since all the red numbers were in the top group, maybe next time I will just use the top group which should reduce my pool by another 10-15 numbers.

10 was in the second group along with 10 other numbers. I'll be picking 20 combinations from that pool using some other parameters so it's possible 10 won't make the final cut. I will also have a pool of 30 numbers for my mega number picks, I know at least 10 of those numbers won't make the final cut.

I'm just picking my combinations from a 5/39+1/30 pool instead of a 5/56+1/46 pool and gambling that all the winning numbers are in both pools.

It sounds like you believe that the players that buy more than two tickets have a disadvantage. You may be right because I usually buy 2-4 tickets with 10-20 combinations (5 per ticket) and the closest I ever came to winning a jackpot was a few years ago when I matched 5 of 6 in Ohio Super Lotto when I bought a single ticket with ten combinations.

I've reduced my number pool to 39 numbers for the next drawing and 6 24 are not in it. During the last 43 drawings no less than three of those 39 numbers have been in the winning combinations. 32 times the winning combinations had 4 or 5 of the numbers in this pool.

For the MM April Fool's drawing, I plan to pick 20 combinations using this pool and I'll be cashing in a 3+0 ($7) that I won playing 20 lines from a pool of 40 numbers picked the same way for Friday's drawing.

For Tuesday, 4/1 Megamillions draw, my best three numbers are 6 - 24 - 28. Based on my analysis, these three numbers can be part of the winning ball set or the megaball set as I do not differentiate between the two.

Just curious, based on your analysis, would you eliminate these numbers or keep them?

If you kept all three, which one number would be your favorite white ball and which one number would you select as a megaball?

Back to the ranch:

I see things that hit with 80% accuracy - but they are not numbers. For example, I can tell you which group/decade to NOT play more than one number in, I can tell you which ones are cooling down, and if you look, you can see which 'decades' have hit in the last two games, and you can largely avoid more than one number from those, too. But you still have to pick ONE number to play.

I too play more than twelve numbers because I usually play 10-20 lines and it has been my experience that if all 5 winning numbers aren't in them somewhere my chances of having more than two of them on the same line is zero. Most times I can eliminate 15-20 numbers without eliminating more than one of the winning numbers. Usually the 12 numbers I use for the challenges are the ones that come up the most in the 10-20 lines that I play.

If you had something that works then what others do shouldn't effect your results. Pick the numbers you think will come up and play them, that's what I do and so far the best I've done is matched 4+0 in 20 lines once.

To explain a little bit about priority.

If you played 5 top priority numbers in one line, you will be matching at least 1 number almost every drawing. When you should be matching every 11 drawing(or so)

For example,for PB 3/29/08 18-20-25-31-36, why did 20 repeat from the previous drawing?

You can say repeats are due. But statistically the first position have been pushed down below other positions IE it is due. Due because numbers in the first position has a high priority than say secon... [ More ]

I think the key here is prioritizing numbers. Going from a high priority to low priority.

Take my picks for example 3/26/08 - 9 12 20 37 49 - 1 played 9 12 39 42 47 - 1 line.

3/29/08 - 18 20 25 31 36 - i played 16 20 25 39 54 - 1 line.

Yes I could have gone to the store a bought 1 qp with 5 + 1. I definitely don't get this lucky all the time. But my point is that you can hit numbers that have high priorities easi... [ More ]

At best, picking 12 numbers that have 4 or 5 of the drawn numbers out of 39 is very difficult so consistently picking 2 or 3 out of 55 and 56 numbers is really pretty good. You're right about the six decades distribution but that's a different playing strategy and might be next to impossible when you can only choose 12 numbers.

If the challenges asked for 20 numbers, there would be more winners, but a 3if4 of 20 number wheel cost around $70 compared to $12 for the same 12 number wheel and 4if... [ More ]

in my opinion the primary reason that the MAddog challenge winners get only 2+0 or 3s is that people dont take enough chances....they try to cover the whole field by posting 12#s smth like say for example: 2 6 10 17 23 25 30 36 44 49 50 55...since only 5 numbers will be drawn they cannot come from the six 10s categories (0s,10s,20s,30s,40s,50s) (a post like that example has two numbers in every tens therefore two of them numbers are automatically wrong since the beginning)...numbers are not that... The problem is wheeling 12 numbers with odds of *1:4823 of having all 5 winning numbers is not always better than wheeling 20 numbers with odds of *1:246 of having all 5 winning numbers. When gambling, both risk and cost has to be evaluated in your strategy. For example, a full wheel of 12 numbers have 792 lines but an abbreviated wheel of 792 lines of 20 numbers is likely to have more combinations that win a prize. I was just pointing out that if you gave (xsmega, fja, konane, gamegrl, maddog10, rjoh, jadelottery, raven62, litebets27, tweetietoo, magma, geos*5666) twenty numbers to select from, you would probably have someone hit 5 for 5 on a relatively consistent basis. If you were to put these predictors in a think tank room to get their best number for a given draw, I would venture a guess that you would have at least 3 out of 5 correct numbers on every draw.

Picking 20 numbers for the challenge is almost half the selections so there might be better results. However it still boils down to selecting the right digits.

The thing is wheeling 12 numbers cost less than wheeling 20 numbers. It doesn't mater much if in your wheel you don't have the winning digits.

That's obvious to me as well, but it appears you and I are studying (some of) the same things...

As I keep saying you can make all the educated guesses you want, it still takes a lot of luck, but the important thing is: you have to know how to try and get 'better' luck of the odds in your favor. There are things you just 'notice' when you are looking at things, but as I've said a million times, there isn't a whole lotta difference between 1 in 146 mill and 1 in one mill.......... let alone 3... There is more signal and less noise on those forums, IMO ... but I guess it depends on what you're looking for.

Speaking of why certain numbers are picked to play, I've looked at past winning numbers and separated them into different categories that one might use to pick them to play and seldom will more than two or three winning numbers be in any one category that include less than a third of all the numbers in the game. When ever all the winning numbers have been in the same category, that category have included a third or more of all the numbers in the game.

Gee, a 73 year old man just won the Lottery. The officials can't guarantee you'll win. However, if you play long enough and live long enough, there's a possibility you may win.

I wanted to share ideas, and I could not care less about 'sharing' any jackpot.

The reason I don't share my theories publicly is because they are not bullet-proof, not iron-clad, are not always 100% correct. And when they are not correct, I don't care to deal with the trash talk that comes with it; why put myself through it ?

Anybody that plays the lottery EXPECTING to win needs psychiatric help.

IMO, the 'only' way to play this game is to call it a 'sport', know your limits, and play within them. (read: don't spend a lot)

Now, anyone that has dealt with me privately KNOWS people can notice things that can tip the odds in your favor a little bit, but I bend over backwards to tell people there just isn't much of a difference between odds of 1 in 146 million and odds of 1 in 1 million. I understand that. I still get 3/6 a lot more than getting 3+0 on Powerball. I'm glad the Hoosier Lottery has a 2/6 prize, a free QP.

With odds of 1:7.3, getting a 2/6 frequently can be expected. When I play Ohio Rolling Cash5, I usually get a 2/5 often which has odds of 1:10.

I read the posts of members who are sharing their ideas all the time, the problem is their ideas aren't winning much.

I agree the 12 numbers challenges are not the answer because it's hards to come up with more than 3 of the winning numbers in a group of 12 numbers. So far no one has come up with a strategy that has any chance of working even on paper. Until that happens everyone is on their own.

I keep proposing we share ideas and numbers and see if we can beat the odds.

Yet some people here are more concerned about sharing the jackpot.

The tickets and balls don't know what you're thinking of. If you think you won't be offered a job you interview for, that belief may affect your chance of being hired. i made this topic not to be negative...just to highlight some points for discussion like:

1) spending too much time involved in lotto...

2) spending too much money in lotto (specifically jackpot games)

3) when the odds are staggering like 1:100 mill or above they get you

...and 4) your post above tells something interesting too....when you are not really trying so hard then its funny but always something good happens...when you least excpect it

I am sure you would agree that (if you had won) your posts would be quite different in nature. Although this is a game; many successful folks have overcome ridiculous odds (and risked alot) in many areas of life. In business, life, sports etc.....

When someone tells me forget it, you'll never make it . I am usually even more encouraged. If I had a nickel for everytime someone told me that, I wouldnt need the lottery.

I play twice a week in a pool at work. we play wed and sat. The cost is $ 2 a week each .We play lotto and fatasy5.

We have won over a $1000 last year. We received $95 each after tax.

This year we have won over 4,000 on lotto. we got 5 numbers out of 6. so we got $412 each after tax.

The pool buy very few tickets each week and all quick pick.

I've always thought of it as getting the most out of my lottery buck. The odds of matching the winning Powerball numbers are exactly the same whether we play $20 worth of QPs or if we use one of the 57 wheels right here on LP that cost under $20. Since the jackpot win expectations are the same, adding secondary prize win guarantees can only enhance the bet.

I agree with you on some points, but I'm not going to quit playing and I'm not going to go around thinking that I will never win. Those type of thoughts are negative and counteractive in my goal. I never play $20 on Powerball. The most I have spent at one time was around $10 maybe $15 but that isn't the norm. On average, I buy between $2 or $5 worth of tickets.

A recent discovery of mine of how to get most possible 3 winning numbers in 14 numbers,

making pick6 lottery as a pick5 lottery by deleting one positions numbers in all past 300 history,in which way turns 649 lottery as 630 lottery while still having all 6 winning numbers.

Not intending to discourage anyone here but with astronomical odds of 146+ million and 175+ millions or ~14 million for match 6/49 lotto, one has to admit that in all likeliness the dream is pretty much that...just a dream..I beleive that most people focus too much on jackpot sizes and of course everyone wants to win but have you asked yourself what the odds really mean...what is 1 in 100 million?...heck hitting p3 is pretty damn difficult....
