And most people just as well throw that dollar or dollars in the trash can for what good it will do them. I used to buy powerball tickets and I'll win a little here and there but lost much more so stopped buying them......now it's just pick 3 for me.

You know what they say and it's true....your chances of getting struck by lightening are greater than your chances of winning the powerball.

With so many people buying them it's funny how so many people don't even come close to winning them an... [ More ]

For someone on a budget that limits them to just playing a few times a year, it makes sense to only play when the jackpots are big but for others who can afford to buy a ticket or two for every drawing it might not.

$15 million is fine with me. I play consistently every week. Although large jackpots are nice, especially the $250 million, people do win with lesser amounts. So, each poster has his or her incentive for playing -- which I respect.

My wife does the same thing with scratch offs.She'll be playing a ticket that has a $50,000 top prize and say I sure wish I could hit $5,000 .To me that doesn't make sense.You should wish for the top prize...and settle for the 2nd prize,don't wish for the 2nd prize when 1st prize is worth much,much more.

Not me. I play whenever. I would take any of the jackpot sizes. And like the others have said, it doesn't make it to $250 million that often, so that isn't how all the jackpots are won.

Correction: Most jackpots are won before reaching $250 millions.

If you wait for the jackpot to reach that amount before buying a ticket, you'll probably only be buy a ticket once or twice a year.

There have been many,many jackpots of less than $250 million won.If you don't play you can't win,no matter what the size of the jackpot is.
