Simple 2-D animation / morphing software

I'm just curious to know if anybody knows of any (preferably free) 2 dimensional animation or morphing software. I've looked by way of search engines but can't find anything remotely of what I have in mind. And what I have in mind is this: Start out with an array of 7 x 6 graph points, plot 6 points on this array and connect the points in a simple straight-edged polygonal design.
