The last change to Powerball was jutified because there were too many jackpots being hit; thus the increase in ball numbers. To passify the players, they slightly raised the prizes and dreamed up that dumb annuity spread. Once again the passifier would be larger jackpots. The price for higher jackpots? Regardless of any changes PowerBall might make, the players have to still feel it's worth buying a ticket or the game won't accomplish its goal of selling more tickets. Since its starting jackpots aren't likely to be more than $25M, it also have to attract its core players when the jackpots are low. I could see them adding another weekly drawing or upping the price of a tickets.

The odds are high enough already. Maybe they will offer a $1 jackpot

kicker. I don't know why they have the powerplay option and no jackpot

kicker option. PowerBall is a Jackpot game after all.

I really don't understand why anyone would want powerplay on prizes smaller then $10,000. Geez! The odds of winning 10 grand on powerball are about the same as winning the jackpot on Fantasy 5 and the odds of winning 200 grand on powerball are about the same as a 6/40 game so I can see why someo... Personally, I'd like to see them go back to 5x49.

Heck, just get rid of the RB and draw six White Ball numbers.....

I think they have would have to make major infrastructure changes to add more red balls...

North Dakota has no online games that compete with it's Powerball games so it's obvious higher PB jackpots created in other states will impact ND ticket sales. All the states where Powerball games are their only online games are probably asking for three drawings a week to help boost the jackpots and of course ticket sales.

FYI, this is what I found from the Associated Press:

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - April 16, 2008 -- The North Dakota Lottery's director says changes are in store for Powerball.

Chuck Keller says that's partly because Powerball generates large jackpots less frequently than its operators would like.

But Keller declined to give any details about the changes being explored. He says details about the revamped game should be decided in mid-May and put into effect for players in October.

Yeah, I looked it up, you're right.

All these changes are starting to get old. They can't just keep adding numbers, before too long we'll have 1 in a billion odds. They need to jostle the lottery directors for a raise the payout %, that would make a big difference with no change in odds.

the news paper said powerball to be revamped, in mid may,but would take effect untill oct.08.

The number field will now be 60 numbers and picking all 5 numbers without the powerball will be $350,000.

All lower tiered prizes will be eliminated.

Yes, this IS a late APRIL FOOL's!!!!

(But I wouldn't put it past those people to come up with even MORE creative ways to rip off us honest playing, hard working, tax paying USA citizens!)

The solution? If everyone stopped playing PowerRip and MegaRip for one entire month you would see many FAVORABLE changes!
