What are you trying to say? The number hits more than others so that is why it is played so much. Maybe, but do your search for the number just straight compared to other numbers. Only when it comes out exact as 769 is there so much play. Other variations of the number when they come out pay more then normal or have less play in states with fixed payouts.

That is what I mean. Wny the number 769? In states where the payoff is par-mutual it is always very low which means a lot of play. Heck in NJ when it came out the last time I know there were over 2000 stright winners and the box winners were maybe 200 more than the straight. I am just trying to figure why so many plays on that number each and every day? There has to be something about the number 769 that so many people play it, but what? Death number really does not make sense where it would cau... [ More ]

I only play in New York and the payouts are supposed to be a fixed amount for what ever number comes out. A straight is $250, a Box is $40 or $80 if doubled. If there is a number that is very popular and played alot, then it is possible that it will get closed out before the drawing. The lottery cuts off how much money can be paid out on a certain day so they do not bust the bank.

The list above for New York is for how many winners got paid. Where it lists straight play 2,547 that is how... [ More ]

I have seen references to 697 being the death number in other posts on this site, but that number seems to payoff more than the norm. 769 on the other hand pays off a lot less then the norm.

I am sure this has been discussed many times but I cannot find any information on why 769 seems to be a very very popular number. In NJ the highest payout for this number has been 158.00 for a straight payout. In NY the lottery pays out more than 10 times the normal payout when that number comes out. In Canada again the number pays about 40% less then other numbers. What is the significance of the number? Why do so many lottery players play the number
