Connecticut has one of the most successful casinos in the world (Foxwoods in Ledyard) and a lottery and neither seem to be hurting.

If you live in state without a lottery, You can play the Massachusetts lottery games by subscription; there are no residency restrictions.

Who cares, people in those states can easily drive to other states and buy tickets anyway. AK and HI really dont have enough people to have decent games anyway

Those with casino objection will never have a lottery. The people with the money own the politicians. Thus, those who wish to remain in power and have an office where people come begging for favors (alla Godfather) will never go against those who keep them there! Show me a pilitician who does not fit that model, and I will show a short-lived politician. It looks like they miscounted the number of states with some form of a state lottery because the number is 42.

If Nevada does start a lottery, will we see people sitting in front of slot and video poker machines scratching tickets

I don't believe Nevada will ever have the lottery. Where do you get 11 states? I come up with AR,HI,UT,WY,NV,AL,MS,AK but what are the other 3 states

Just my $.02

Tennessee (Baptists), Utah (Mormons) and Hawaii (illegal gambling interests) were never supposed to get any form of legal gambling.

Tennessee has lottery now, so that wasn't totally true (how many Tennesse doillars were going across state lines for lotto?)

But I'm with ThatScaryChick, I don't think all the states will ever have it (unless we have a national lottery).

Nope. I believe one day, a few more states may join the lottery, but I don't think we will ever see all states aboard.
