I've done the same thing and after the few times that I matched 4or5 and 5of6 I've really thought I was on to something that would help me win a jackpot or at least come closer but time proved I just got lucky a few times so I'm still in the hunt.

The cost of play can vary depending on the method. A system that uses all 39 numbers for play would cost at the least $8, would cost $12 for MM and a system using the best 15 numbers can cost anywhere from $3 to $3000.

I agree. Sometimes once is enough..sort of like marriage! LOL If you hit the jackpot, you don't need to develop a Plan B. I only desire to win Lotto once and, depending on the jackpot, Fantasy 5 once, although sometimes several people share and it's only $50,000 or even less. The FL MM jackpot is $1.6M tonight and, although it's not my favorite game, that would be a nice prize!

I thought one of the reasons for developing a system was to reduce the cost of playing and winning. $5-$10 per drawing should be plenty, after all it only take one line with all the winning numbers to win and you're giving your system 5-10 chances. At least that's what I tell myself as I continue to try and improve my own system. Winning more than once is expecting a lot of a system. Good luck.

Yes. The problem for me, is the limited amount of money I can put towards winning that first jackpot. I usually only play $5 per drawing, sometimes $10. Getting that first jackpot win would allow me to increase my wager per draw, which means more combinations, which means a better chance of winning. Just give me the first jackpot win and it's all downhill from there.

I was just thinking about this very same thing yesterday. I don't need a huge jackpot, just a jackpot period. With enough accruing interest to live comfortably off of for the rest of my life.

Think about it though, if you only count MM and PB, there are 4 chances of winning each week. Luckily I live in Maryland and work in DC, so I can participate in both lotteries. For this reason, I have a feeling I'm going to hit the jackpot some day.

Hi, GamerMom! Since you quoted my post, I assume you were responding to what I wrote. I agree the 5/6 would be great, but I was responding to the general attitude on the board about what a jackpot is and that's usually at least $1 million. I was thinking of PB and/or MM. Of course I'd be happy winning $3M. That's usually about $1.6M cash less tax. I'd be happy splitting it too!

What kind of system is it that you may have to wait 20 years for it to win? In 20 years there will have been plenty of winners with no system who just got lucky with a QP.

Its more of a dream than a goal. And even if it was a goal, I always set the bar high. I agree though that it should be something to have fun with. Coin Toss, I totally agree that people are setting themselves up for disappointment if their goals include winning the lottery. When Ohio started the Buckeye 5 (5/37), I knew I was going to match all 5 numbers and win a $100,000 jackpot because I had some success matching 4 and 5 numbers in the lotto game. I matched many 3's and a few 4's but never won the big one and over time the feeling became more of a hope. The game is now 5/39 with rolling jackpots starting at $100,000.

Bought one from Saturday at my local grocery store and then three today, one from the store again and two from two gas stations.... Good point. Considering the amount of jackpopts and the number of players, way too many people wind up going their entire life with that feeling unfulfilled. Thye just know they're going to hit a jackpot but it never happens.

I was just wondering how many posters here actually FEEL/KNOW they're going to win the lottery as opposed to those who just HOPE.

I chose #3. Up until a few months ago, I had that feeling that knowing , and...now I don't. Now I just hope.
