The furthest I went to play a lottery was Massachusetts. Not in person, but over the phone, it saved on gas. The sent me the subscription ticket.

no more than 5 minutes or so,i used to go further just so i didn't have to deal with a rude clerk or someone who would lie and say the machine was down when i knew it wasn't.a couple years ago i went to a place and the lady told me the machine was down and i told her we could call her boss or supervisor on the phone later to see when it would be back on and she got pissed and went ahead and did my tickets because originally it was pure lazy on her part in not wanting to do it.

I feel silly admitting to this one but....

I have driven nearly 70 miles (and 1/2 tank of gas) to drive to Mountain View to purchase a ticket at one of California's lucky retailer stores. I went to the CA lotto site, checked to see which closest place hit in recent years (not too recent) and went to play there. I live 75 miles south of the tn border in Ga and drove to pick up some powerball tickets when it was big.

I live in deep east Texas and can still remember the first time we went to La. to buy Powerball, which is a 3 hour trip all toll. It was on Christmas Eve the pot was $315 mil and Jack Whittaker won it.

I've never driven to just to play the lottery, other than to the local store around the corner. A few times, when I've been on the road in my own state, I've sometimes bought tickets at stores that weren't in my home town just to see if it would make a difference.

Specifically to buy lottery tickets? 5 miles or so. That was during a power outage after a hurricane and the local terminals were down. Now buy lottery tickets is on my preparedness list along with the bottled water, batteries and flashlights. LOL

Before we (North Carolina) had lottery my friend used to drive an hour and a half to Virginia for Megamillions tickets. We NCers are the last to get everything.

I play the lottery in my state, so I can just drive to the store. I agree with rcbuckeye. I wouldn't bother wasting gas, to drive to another state to buy tickets. If I'm on a trip, that is a different story, but I won't go out of my way to buy tickets.

I have driven to OK to buy PB tics. It's 70 miles one way, and I would buy 10 draws. Haven't done that in a long time. Not worth the gas money. Besides, there's plenty of games in TX for me to lose my money on. LOL.

We all do all kinds of things to increase our odds in any game that we play. And as the saying goes, you have to be in it to win it , therefore i was wondering how far have people (you) driven just to have a chance at winning. I live in Ga and drove to TN to get a select number of powerball tickets...just wondering how many other dedicated individuals are out there.....
