I buy the tube socks and the black dress socks for work, that's it. But I wouldn't invest in socks, I just buy them. Infact, I don't have the foggiest on how the sock industry works. I have a good idea, but it must make money because just about everyone in the civilized world buys a few.

I have invested in stocks at one time.

My theory is percentage cycles no matter what stock but having assets to debt ratio I like.

Turn over money in a short period for profit. Waiting for the big kill ties up money too long.

Where have you been at are you off your meds. The stock market has been in a down slide for months now sure a couple days of the week the stocks go up, in order to be a good investor you have to know which market stocks will be a performer. Stay in it for the long haul and hope you don't lose every cent you invest.

No i don't eat meat, and this is something i've wanted to do for about 9 years now...I eat chicken every now and them but i mostly like fish...If i could eat fish everyday i will do so...

Seriously not a dime would go to stocks (investment), played that game in the 1990's and lost pretty dern near every safe investment I could have had. The tax from them doesnt make for any type of return. You lose 20% to your broker and the rest uncle sam gets.

Soybean is to be the next commodity that if ever I had the nerve to jump in the market again, that would be the item.

I don't think that is the same 'LG' as what you are thinking, I researched that years ago.

From what I am understanding, GE has a large stake in LG - the durable goods conglomerate, but it is privately held.

I definitely rage against the high gas prices. But believe me, if I had the funds available to me, I'd buy millions of dollars worth of Big Oil stock. However, I don't believe oil prices will be rising too much in the near future. They most likely leveled off somewhat and the increases won't be astronomical for the time being. A bunch of my JP money would be in technology and communications for that reason.

Nike, Sanyo, LG, Panasonics, Sony, washers and dryers, Books and priting press and dictionaries, sci-fi movies, pharmaceuticals...

There are stocks that no matter how good they are doing i will not invest in them, like oil (polutes the air), MacDonalds Fast food nor any stock that kills cows, they could be throwing away money i will not buy them...i don't think i'll invest in restaurants but who knows...would not invest in cellphones and communications like the media...

I told my kids if I ever won, they were still going to college and getting a degree to help me manage the money better. They are both very smart., but my oldest one is a genius. Surely she would be able to help me keep the money going and going for future generations. She is graduating high school this year. So I could really use the money for her college anyway.

that's a great idea. I have always told my son if we ever win he/we will spend some of his vacations doing charity work at a local Children's Hospital. I would only support my adult children financially if they were doing non profit charity work . Otherwise they won't see a penny unless they have meager jobs like teaching or mentoring. If they don't I would just donate it all to the a heart research foundation I have been involved with.

As for leaving money to kids. There is a wealthy British guy who thought of a great idea.

He has a trust established for his kids that matches every dollar they earn, so the harder they work, the more the trust pays them.

It also provides additional bonuses.

For example, if you choose to be a teacher or other job that might not pay very well, but helps people, then you might get $2 or $3 for every dollar you earn.

Assuming $50 million after taxes.

$2M in commodities (gold, copper)

$4M in cash in various currencies, stored in safe deposit boxes or CDs.

$3M in gifts.

$1M in excess spending (cars, girls, vacations)

$5M in real estate

That leaves $35M for stocks.

$12M in the financial sector(stuff like JPM, JEF, etc). Some stocks deserve to be down, but others have just been battered below where they sho... [ More ]

If you're going to leave anything to offspring/grand kids would you think it might be better to keep it locked up the inheritance until after they reach a certain age? Something more than just 18 or 25. Perhaps with conditions such as actually earning something first and not be reliable on your late mommy or daddy's trust.

Um, WRONG.

Stocks that have high variations of dividends from month-to-month or qtr-to-qtr are the ones to watch out for, but there are some great stocks that pay a pretty good AND EVEN dividend each time they are scheduled.

You don't want something that pays .05 one qtr, 1.75 the next, .10 the next, .50 the next, 1.50 the next - total inconsistency - THOSE you have to avoid.

I would want to make as much money as possible before I pass on. I would put everything into creating a dynasty that my children, then their children, then their children and so forth could live off of wealthily. I would want my great great grandchildren going to the best private schools in the country and becoming professors, entrepreneurs, senators and governors. This is why if I won a mega jackpot I'd focus on becoming a billionaire.

I would not want to have to worry about investments if i hit it big. I don't have any desire to become a billionare, nor would i want to have to worry about keeping track of how i'm doing . I'd probably put 90% in low risk bonds and CD's and be able to live comfortably off the interest earned ,and will the principal to our children

I'd try to stick to things I'm interested in and have immediate knowledge of and then go from there. Obviously get into commodities, even if prices are going down they'll always go back up, well unless there's a discovery that replaces it or creates a infinite supply.

Real estate isn't a bad investment as long as you don't get into it at a bad time, people will always need places to live or build. But only for land, no old, possibly former crack houses that need renovation and are in crumm... [ More ]

The higher the dividends are, the higher the risk, usually. Those are the wealth doublers so to speak, but can also put you in the poorhouse. You gotta watch out for those.
