Anti Virus/Internet Protection - Suggestions?

Hey there,LV! Long time no see! Still have your last email to answer,sorry it's taken me so long.

As far as Internet Security, I have Trend Micro Internet Security Pro which is awesome. It is constantly warning me about viruses and people trying to access your computer,etc etc. which Norton 360 never did. Norton refunded my money after my computer got infected with the Antivirus 2008 virus because I told them their product doesn't work.

AVG (the paid version) is supposed to be the closest... [ More ]

Oh and just to stop someone from jumpin, I didn't say anything about IP adresses being seen or not I'm talking about open ports to the Internet that hackers see and being their attack on that computers open port! I thought I best clear that one up before I got hammered by someone

I never said the FREE ZA is anything at all!!! NOPE I said ZA Security Suite is the BEST! So get the facts straight OK. As I have been taught through out my life.... You Get What You Pay For and that stands for just about anything and everything in life... So if you're willing to chance the well being of your computer to something that's free.... then I guess it could hold true, that you get exactly what you pay for or in this case what you didn't pay for! I was using AVG and loved it, but switched to Avast free edition and I think it's great. My main reason for switching was that with the newest free version of AVG (version 8.0), the automatic scanning of email for viruses was discontinued (my understanding). Anyone here who is currently using the newest free version of 8.0, I would appreciate it if you could confirm this.

I use AVG 8.0 free version and COMODO firewall. I was using ZA Security Suite full version before and was very satisfied with it, but now that I got the 64 bit version of Windows XP installed I can't use it anymore. The 64 bit Windows XP version is much more stable than the 32 bit version by the way.

I used to have Norton and McAfee and found they were resource hogs. I use AVG 8.0 which is free. Zone Alarm has a free download if you want additional firewall protection.

Note: I'm not a techie.

(I was typing, so I didn't see Scary's post. I've been using AVG for years too. Now I see True Critic's post. Oh, well. That's what happens when you start a post, make a cup of coffee and come back to it. lol

I use AVG 8.0, Ad-Aware and SpywareBlaster on my old computer and my new computer. So far it has worked great and I haven't had any problems with viruses or spyware. *knock on wood

Tests I have read do not confirm that ZA is the best firewall protection. I like ZA, free version and used to use it.

Here is the best firewall...the $40 one was

tested by a guy that tested them ALL.

There is also a free version for the XP, just

about as good as the pay version.

I presently have Norton 08, and have access to McAfee, (came with the computer). I'm really not impressed with either one of these packages.

Any suggestions on a better protection package
