Last night I posted 10 PB lines on the prediction board and matched 0+1 for $3. I've used this system to pick combos for RC5, PB and MM and I'm becoming convinced it works best with PB.

I've won the most playing PB because it only has 39 bonus numbers so matching 0+1 is easier with it than with MM and it pays a dollar more. Since I seldom match 3, matching the bonus number is key to winning something with MM or PB. While MM has better odds of winning a jackpot, PB has better odds of winning... [ More ]

Lately, I've been posting my picks to the prediction board and tonight that is what I did with my PB picks but I only got a 0+1 for $3 so anyone playing my picks didn't effect what I won. Beside since PB came to Ohio I discovered that all states shut down PB sales at 10:00PM, a whole hour before its drawing, even in Ohio. I'm used to playing MM up to 10:45PM so I was late the first couple of times I played PB in Ohio.

You are right but there are members who enjoy going back and reading old threads long after they've ended. With a new thread any references to ideas in this thread would require the reader to look through this thread so I can't see starting a new thread to post what has already been posted. Now that RC5 has reset to its normal jackpot, I'll be spending more time on PB and MM. I modified my software to handle more data so the next time RC5 gets over $500K, I'll be better prepared to handle its 2000 draws history.

Both PB and MM reset too, but with PB starting at $20M, it got a jump on MM. With PB 0+1 paying $3 and only having 39 bonus numbers, it seems the lower tier prizes are easier to win with PB.

Ohio's Rolling Cash5(5/39) has a jackpot of $660K this week so I'm testing my system on it. With 1949 previous drawings there's a lot of data to work with, in fact it may be more than I can handle since RC5 is a daily game.

One thing that surprised me were that this 5/39 game had more patterns than I've run into with either the PB 5/59 or MM 5/56 matrices which leads me to think that I've only touched the surface with those games.

I mentioned earlier in this thread about replacing numbers with letters to create filters for future picks.

A = 1-14 B = 15-28 C = 29-42 D = 43-56

A = 1-19 B = 20-38 C = 39-56

A = 1-28 B = 29-56

I used all 3 letter groups and got 50 different filters with 4 letters, 19 different filters with 3 letters and 6 different filters with 2 letters. When I combined all those filters I got 139 filters that cover all 518 winning MM combinations since the last... [ More ]

Where did you get the idea that I wanted to sell a dream? Sorry if you were looking to buy one, you'll have to look somewhere else or do what I did and come up with your own. I play the types of lottery games I enjoy and find entertaining and pick3 and pick4 aren't one of them. Trying to win a lottery jackpot is something I enjoy and it doesn't have to make sense any more than smoking a cigarette, drinking a cold beer or watching TV. Part of the fun in playing is finding and working on different strategies. Playing P3 and P4 is a different animal from the jackpot games. I like playing the daily games at times, but being on a budget those games just don't pay enough to warrant the extra cost. RJ has some good ideas and thoughts about strategy for MM. Yep LOL, 49 WB and 20 PB cover 38,137,680 combinations and there's no way I would play a wheel covering that many combinations even to match 3 but picking 10-20 lines from them if they have all the winning numbers gives me better odds of picking a winner than picking from 175,711,536 combinations.

You had 4 of the 5 winning numbers and the powerball too in that group. If you wheeled them you may have won 10k. Of course it would have cost a crap load of money to play. LOL.

I won $8 on PB on a QP. Didn't have time to do a workout this week. I'm only doing workouts on Tx Lotto and Tx 2 Step this week, and play QP on MM and PB.

I'm getting use to the different structures of the PB and MM games, not only do they have different cut-off times for playing but one has a multiplier and the other doesn't at least here in Ohio. PB only has a 140 drawings under its present matrix and MM has 510. Since PB have fewer bonus numbers, playing less lines and opting to pay extra for the multiplier makes sense.

Now that PowerBall has come to Ohio, I'm tracking its results as closely as I track MegaMillions results and the two games have more in common than I thought. The major difference between the two games is MM can be played up to 10:45 PM on draw night and PB can only be played up to 10:00 PM on draw night.

Now that Ohio has posted on its website that its sales of PowerBall tickets will start next month, I'll be updating my PB file and changing my system to pick PB numbers also. I started concentrating on MM a couple of years ago when gas prices made trips to Indiana for PB tickets too expensive for my budget. Yes, it's nice to know how a lottery program really works. With some commercial programs you get some pretty pages with only a random number generator without a strategy working in the back ground. Writing your own program you know there's a strategy and if it doesn't works or you, you can always replace it with something different.

I googled unique winning megamillions combinations and found a website that's using a system very similar to mine for both MegaMillions and PowerBall drawings to come up with profitable combinations and selling them $4.49 for 5 and $9.49 for 20. I checked their demonstration and hot picks recommendations and their results didn't surpass the results I'm got using my system so this validated my system. Since I usually play 15-20 lines per drawing, I'm saving $9.49 per drawing using my own system.... [ More ]

Im working on the mega again because it is so closely related to the rolling cash 5 and I hate the split jackpot feature of that game however I have started to work with it to try to perfect how I look at the pick 5 games. Much easier on a smaller scale at the moment.

My RNG program has a feature that allows me to color numbers by their groups which I hadn't used in a while. The greens were more active than the blues so I wanted to make sure each combination I picked had mostly active numbers which I could tell visually by their colors.

If you check those green numbers with the last 50 drawings, you will find all but three had 3 or more of those numbers. Maybe next time I'll only use the green group.

Actually all 56 core numbers were available and only 38 of them were used in the first 10 lines although 51 of them were used in the 22 lines I eventually ran off. I used the most popular repeat frequencies of the megaballs to build a list of 16 numbers for megaballs and #33 was on that list. It looks to me like you used about 38 different numbers in 10 combinations but did have the 5 winning numbers. I'm assuming you used a filtering method because of the even/odd distribution and choose 10 from all the combinations. The first thought might be had you played more combos you could have the 5 drawn numbers in the same combo, but that could escalate into thousands of combos. The choices are playing more combos or finding a way to get right 5 number combo in the 10 combos you choose.... [ More ]

I too play Rolling Cash5 especially when its jackpots get to $300K+, but it's not the same as playing for a $100M+ jackpot. I don't play the games to show a small profit but for the excitement and thrill of gambling a few dollars on a chance to win lots of them. That's one of the reasons Pick3 has never interested me. I played Buckeye 5 and Rolling Cash 5 before Ohio joined Mega Millions and noticed the difference between payoffs for matching 3 numbers right from the start. We like to believe we can match all 5 numbers but it's really matching 2 or 3 with an occasional 4 number match. When a 5/39 game pays $10 for matching 3 and a 5/56 game only pays $7 and the 5/39 pays twice as much for matching 4, it should be a no brainer on which game to play. Last night I posted the 10 MM lines I played on the prediction board and got a 3+0 for $7 for real since I actually played them. I also picked 12 numbers from the first three line for the Maddog MM challenge and got a 3+0 there too. Buckeye5 ended after 2723 drawings and I look for Rolling Cash5 to do about the same. The only games to continue since their beginnings with little or no change are the pick3 and pick4 games and some player complain while the odds and payouts haven't changed, they are harder to win now days than they ever were before. I think it's just the frustrations of still losing after years of playing and learning about those games.

Ohio Rolling Cash5 was at $439K tonight so I tried using my MegaMillions system to pick some combinations for it since both games are pick5 games. I found none of the rules I used for MM got similar results for RC5. Besides, 1765 drawings was just too much information to digest in only a day. A multi-pack of the generic ink cartridges is the way to go.

My printer came with 36-pin and USB connection ports. After a couple of years it was selling for more than the newer USB-only model, in the same series.

I've noticed and also some of the new lap tops don't have a dial-up modem which I need. I usually check the specs on a model before I go shopping for it. Changing my printer won't bother me since replacing the ink cartridges for it cost more than it worth.

Be careful. The new computers today do not come with parrell or serial ports. If you get one of these you will need a new printer and monitor also. I found this out the hard way. USB seems to be the wave of the future.

Every time I've upgraded by buying a new computer, I've gotten a lot more computer with a lot more computing power for about the same or less than I spent for my previous computer. I didn't make it to Office Depot BF sale so I guess I'll be waiting for their next big sale.

We upgraded a couple of years ago and the response time was very significant. We had one program that took an hour on the old computer that only took 20mins to complete on the new one. I hope our next HP will have be even faster.

A newer faster computer is in my future since I don't like to get more than two upgrades behind with my OS. My HP with XP is maxed out with 1GB of memory and the cheapest Windows7 computer comes with 2GB. I'll be checking out Office Depot this Black Friday, it's rumored that they will have a HP G71-343US for $450. That's an OS upgrade, 4x memory, bigger HD and a faster computer in one package.

Same thing happened to me when I first started coding. It would take 1/2 hour to run through my p3/p4 systems. I knew I wouldn't be able to do anything with larger games, at that speed. I figured out steps that were redundant or wasting time and changed them. Especially back then, that cost le$$ than getting a faster machine.

Though at over 3 million combos, it may come down to sampling and luck.

According to the counters in my RNG, it usually looks at 5-10 thousands combinations before picking 50-100 within the parameters I set of which I pick 10-20 to play. One of these days when I have the time to waste, I'm going to write a program to check all 5/56 (3,819,916) combinations to get an idea of the real number of combinations I could pick from within the parameters I set.

When you start trying to chop down tens of 1000s of combos (or more) into something affordable you can play, you find that the first 50% elimination was fairly easy and the more you try to cut down, the more complex and subtle the rules get.

If you've kept a file of all the winning combinations and their dates then you've kept tabs on their sums, it's just a matter of how you analyzed the data. I'm always looking for ways to mine my data file for more useful information. The results are dynamic so I always update the data for a new analysis before picking combinations for the next drawing.

The sum 10-20-2009 was 155 and the following sum was 230

where as

In my RNG I also have rules for digits that cover 80% of the combinations in the last 459 drawings that addresses the same situation.

I run all of my picks through a rule matrix that I have developed, and I have noticed something. It was stated earlier in this thread that common denominator numbers occur in 68% of draws, i.e., 18-28 17-27 I have noticed a tendency for the number to be separated by another number, seems to happen fairly frequently in the drawings where in a common denominator pair is seen.

It's been 21 drawings since all 56 numbers hit in the previous 36 drawings which means for the next MM drawing less combination profiles to consider/eliminate so the odds of picking a combination in 10 lines that pays should be better than usual. Good luck if you play.

There has been 458 drawings since the last MM matrix change and when I compared those winning combinations with each other, 80% of them were within the following parameters.

I didn't get started in time to put the first 10 lines on the prediction board so here they are. I picked the first 5 lines as I usually do and then used the numbers in those lines to pick the rest of the combinations. Then I used a list of megaball numbers that were picked using my usual method. I'll know in a few minutes after the drawing if this strategy has any merits.

If you stick with that 135-160 sum range, you'll have a good chance of hitting 5of5 35% of the time and no telling how often you might match 3 or 4of5 but that's part of the problem of having a static system with narrow fixed parameters.

30% of the last 450 winning combinations had sums within 135-160 range. I'm picking combinations with sums of 95-190 which cover 80% of past winning combinations. I'm pretty much going with 80% with every parameter I set. I use a lot of different parameters so sometime I end up accepting a few combinations outside of 1 or 2 of them.

Matched previous 450 combinations is also one of my parameters.

0 = 261-294

1 = 132-160

2 = 18-30

3 = 0-3

4 = 0

5 = 0

Yes, they can be limiting, yet, you can also filter out the high sums if you can guess that the next sum will probably fall in a particular range.

I am going to guess that tonight's sum will fall within 135-160 range, yes, I know that it is low.

Sums can be an important part of the filtering process but they have their limits. MegaMillions sum of 142 is the most popular sum since the last matrix change 450 drawings ago but it has only happened 10 times. MM sums range from 54 to 238 with 80% of them in the 95 to 190 range. I also pay attention to the range of a combinations and count its number of matches with numbers in previous drawings.

This looks quite promising until you see how many combos are at each sum. Ever getting the exact sum right, in most cases, won't guarantee a prize.

Having said that, if you were willing to only play a certain range (like the way some people stick with a certain set of numbers), it could make a fine filter ... for the patient.
