Why do you need a permanent address to collect winnings?

I could be a hobo riding the rails all my life with no permanent address or a wanderer who just travels from place to place.

I could live on the streets for that matter or under an overpass or I could be an underground troll.

I could be a visitor from another planet. Lets see if they could deliver my check up there.

As long as I can confirm who I am thats all is necessary.

States lotteries have prize claim forms that require a physical address and an eyebrow might be raised if your actual address was in a different city than the PO box, but there are many reasons why someone might get a PO box near where they work or any where they choose.

I live in an area without home delivery and a PO box is how I get all my mail so that would include a check from a state lottery. The IRS, SS, and many companies offer direct deposit making our actual residence irrelevant so

I would guess they would use whatever address is on your ID, be that your drivers license or state ID card. If you have neither, you are going to have problems. If you don't have a bank account, you will also have problems.

thanks for the reply.. i do have a bank account with a major bank lol i was just wondering on the winning thing...

i usually do everything through a PO box because its much easier.. my job require me to travel ALOT.. i dont stay in one place very long.

In my opinion you are not required to have an address to collect lottery winnings, or to have them deposited to a bank account, or setup as an annuity with direct deposit. Depending on the state of your affairs you may have some problems getting your ducks in a row, opening a bank account if you don't already have one, that sort of thing, but don't get stressed you will work things out if you keep your calm.

Can I use a PO box address to correct my winnings?? I dont have a permanted address so I always use the PO box address for lots of things..

Is it ok or is it against the law??? does anyone know?? i'd appercaite it.
