one thing i always tell people who are in a group playing the same numbers one way to increase the odds is at least make sure all the tickets you have whether you are playing mega millions or powerball is to make sure you have the mega ball or the power ball covered.

when you just get quick picks the majority of the time the mega and power balls are duplicated and you are reducing your chance to at least hit the mega or power ball.

This was a thread for me to vent on all the recent Lotto plays I've recently made and haven't won a thing! Usually, it seems I could count on winning at least 10% of what was played. But, now...0% of what I played. I'm trying to maintain a PMA (positive mental attitude), but needing a boost right about now...

I am sorry to be a party-pooper but chances are no one in this forum(including me) will win a jackpot.

Sometimes I wonder if the jackpot winners are chosen by destiny. If so, a person's moral value doesn't seem to affect the winning. Jack Whittaker was a moron even before winning the jackpot and there is at least one convicted rapist who won a jackpot. In Korea, some of the jackpot winners were ex-cons and even fugitives.

Hmmm... sets of numbers not to repeat in a set order in a given time frame.

I've got some good tips too on picking numbers, but it seems that most (if not all) of the people prefer us playing with Quick Picks. Although, I have analyzed and picked a few numbers anyway with sometimes a 3/6 result.

There is nothing wrong at all with going for the home run (Powerball, Mega, etc.), I just made a personal decision to just try and get a lot of 'singles', and so far, I am WAY WAY ahead, I should have done this years ago. I do have a nice new 40 LCD TV courtesy of part of my winnings.

Will my luck last ?

I don't know, but I still continue to set my limits, and adhere to them.

I get that feeling to sometimes. But some intuition of mine keeps pulling me back into this hobby of mine. Like many have said You can't win if you don't play . Playing with a pool needs to be treated like a business. Meetings, discussions Need to take place often. Just to see where the pool's direction is headed. And to make sure All members are on the same page. If the game is too big (odd stacked), another game needs to be discussed (less odds). Or perhaps disban the pool altogether.... [ More ]

When you participate in lottery games that expect to have only one jackpot winner out of every 14M-175M tickets sold then the best you can hope for is to be in the chase. The games are random but that doesn't mean they aren't winnable and many winners do pick their own numbers. The main point is you have to be in it to win it.

The best thing I can say is that for those that don't think this game is random - you are idiots. It IS as random as you can get, that is what makes it so neat, but it's also what makes it so frustrating.

Actually, I did that 1 week ago. The Jackpot was small so I diverted some of our money to a game with 10 times better odds and actually won like $78! So, I've just been using that money to play the other game while we still put our regular $$ in the Lottery Jackpot.

Your not alone. Week after week winning 2 dollars or so can get lame in a hurry. Thats why I switched to pick 3. You can actually win! 500, 1000, 1500 that's nothing to sneeze at. It might also put some enthusiasm back in your game (Group). You should try it for a few weeks. Worst case scenario switch back if it doesn't cut it for you. Hope this helps.

I hate to brag, oh what the hell I love to brag. I took my own advice. Stopped playing big wheels. Took that money and invested in really good lottery software. Now I generate only 1 to 3 lines to play. Sometimes I wheel them as I often get two numbers in one line and another one or two numbers in another line with some duplication. Anyway, what keeps me excited is the fact that when I make a run of correct filter choices, I will win a jackpot, now that's exciting to me.

I go with the best of both worlds, we have a pool of 18 people ($5/week) and I pick numbers/tickets for the pool. My percentages have been a little better than average (so no one thinks it is a bad strategy), and I get to test improve my systems with larger amounts of tickets. I email out statistics and updates for each draw and we also post the tickets and results on a website we created just for the pool. One of the reasons for joining a lottery pool is to reduce the time, money and energy you spend picking combinations to play while increasing your odds of winning something. I would think that alone would decrease you enthusiasm about playing.

I could not agree more with Diamondpalace. The excitement can be found in developing a method to reduce the odds, not in dreaming about what you will buy with 25 million dollars.

Read books on quantum theory, uncertainty, astronomy, and the like. Learn VBA programming, Visual Basic, and C++. Look for ideas you might adapt to a Lotto program while reading. (Start with the Dummy books!)

That's exactly how I feel! About 6 months ago I was seriously picking and strategizing number selection and it was fun but VERY time consuming. So, I had everyone pick some #'s and the rest we use Quick Picks.

I feel your pain. The Powerball group I am in at work has been playing the same numbers for 2 and 1/2 years. 15 of us put 10 dollars in to it a week and we powerplay those same numbers and the best we ever did was 3 plus 1 times 5 multiplier. That's 1500.00 bucks I have invested into the group. Gone too far to turn back now.

Can't really blame anyone if they are not excited about playing, the excitement comes after winning of course. However, to keep the fun in playing try looking into developing methods on how to select your numbers, and turn it into a system to use.
