You can do a lot with a scanner in combination with your art program as well.

With a scanner you can hand draw on paper and scan it in, then color it with the art program. You can also drag a box around only a portion of what you scanned and copy and paste that as a new image, then work with it to make the avatar. So long as the program can save the image as a 100x100 or 64x64 png file that's all you need.

It is fun making avatars for the Lottery Post, Ultimate Paint the old freeware version is still on the net and is only a little better than MS Paint, yet can make some simple, but good avatars, I advice to use it instead of MS Paint.

Drawing can be fun also, I don't know how to draw and yet look at what I just made and very fast too

Coincidentally, when I went outside in my yard last night I thought I saw one of the kitties I feed and, when I got a little closer, it wasn't a kitty. It was my friend Pete, the opossum. He lives in a brush pile in my backyard doesn't bother anyone..not exactly a pet like this guy

I used the former freeware version of Ultimate Paint which is just a little better than MS Paint and remade the avatar as this:

Another possible freeware, but harder to use would be Zoner Draw 3 , but it needs registration.

Ultimate Paint is good enough as you can Zoom to do detailed fine small work as I did on the picture there.

Nothing very fancy, as it is only a 64X64 pixels, the small stuff is very hard to see unless you zoon the picture, but it is there.

Hi!

I don't know how to draw, I just did this so people can see how easy it is to make your own avatar, I used Windows' Paint, the free program that comes with the Windows Operating System.

You should be able to use many kinds of drawing programs and or pictures.

I made it as it should be:

You can't upload because you don't have a place to store the avatar file. You need a gold or platinum account for file space here. If you have a web site that allows hot linking you could try hosting it there and display it here I think couldbe, maybe, haven't tried it myself.

To make an avatar you need an art program like Paint Shop Pro where you can take or make a picture in a size you can work with, then shrink it down to 64x64 or 100x100 pixels and save it as a my-avatar.png file for u... [ More ]

Now that Todd's latest upgrade requires avatars, I finally gave in and made myself one. What do you think?

Notice: No possums were harmed in the making of this avatar.

Why isn't there a Possum lottery? I remember when the Beverly Hillbillies did a show on Possum Day. There should be a possum lottery, but what would the prizes be? Jackpot winner gets a possum, 2nd prize is 2 possums, 3rd prize is 3 possums, 4th prize is 4 possums.
